That's a press conference I'd like to see.
Anybody know how much Ole Miss is paying him? I'm not sure he'd my 1st option necessarily... but at the moment I don't know who would be my 1st choice. Chris Collins from Duke might be worth looking in to if Kennedy were unwilling to come, though I'm not sure what Duke pays Collins. I know to some it may be a bit premature, but I can't see Davis surviving this... I really can't. Anybody have any names they seriously think we should look in to?
I'm sure that Andy is willing to leave a job where he is making very good money, loved by his fans, competitive in his league and in his home state to come to a job that is going to have major hits to its scholarship limit, underfunded, and going to have tight scrutiny on it for some time and in a non BCS conference.

We missed out on Kennedy. The only way he comes to UAB now is if he fails at Ole Miss. At his current success rate, he will leave Ole Miss for a more prestigious job making multiple seven figures.
I would look at assistant coaches who are hungry. Yeah they will be a stepping stone if successful, but that is where the program is right now.

TJ Cleveland?
Matt Zimmerman?

or how about Duane Reboul.
Torrey Ward?
Torrey probably doesn't have enough experience yet.
Probably not.

I'm hoping his name has come up in jest and frustration to the current situation, and not in any serious notions of hoping to steal him. Kennedy would be a first class fool to leave Ole Miss for UAB right now.
Hey, Bartow left UCLA...

Just sayin'.

On a personal level, I like both Zimmerman and TJ.

I also think that Coach Reboul turned down several jobs then decided to retire after BSC left D1.
I could live with giving Chris Giles a shot. How's he doing at Miles College?
Question about "immediately" firing Davis to hire a new coach--My understanding is that while a school can fire it's coach anytime, it can't hire a replacement during the current season. That is why when coaches have been fired (Tommy Bowden for instance) the school could only appoint an "interim coach" ( like "Dabo" Swinney) from within the present staff. IF Davis were to be fired now and his assistant coaches left with him, would we find an AD staffer acting as our interim coach?
You would have to have an interim coach in place but it doesn't have to be within the staff, although that is best for continuity. There have been examples where interim coaches have come in from the outside. You just can't hire a currently employed coach in the middle of the season.
Bobby Knight would be a great choice, particularly given our problems with academics and discipline. However, more reasonably, Larry Shyatt would be worth taking a look at. He didn't have a great tenure at Clemson, but he's been one of Donovan's top assistants at Florida over the last few years (when, of course, they've had great success). He's a well-respected basketball mind; he knows the South; and he'd probably implement a fast-paced offense here...
Interim HC Steve Mitchell.
john brady has wanted the uab job for years. any chance he would leave ark st after one year for the mess that is uab?
