I want to tip my hat to WXSM because of this guest.

Because although Roe is going off to Congress, the future of sports in this area will be decided through politics as much as it will be through anything else.

I would like to know if there are plans for a new Science Hill football stadium. I'd like to know about a new arena. I'd like to know if the Cardinals would move into a new ETSU baseball park, and what would happen to the old facilities in Keystone if a new football and baseball yard are built.

Heck, with the talk of suspending the Arena Football season and the demise of the Augusta Lynx, one wonders if the Appalachian League can survive this economy. The Johnson City Cardinals are run by the city.

I hope Bobby Rader and Kenny Hawkins don't lob softballs to him. I think Johnson City's mayor- especially as he is leaving office so he can speak candidly without fear of reprisal- could reveal a lot about what we can expect about the future of our area as he leaves office.
I was very disapointed with this interview because instead of addressing the future of sports facilities and teams in the area (the Arena Football League just cancelled their season- I'd like to know if the city-run Johnson City Cardinals are in any such danger), they spoke of "why college football needs a playoff."

This topic must be something akin to a drug. I stated how useless it was to talk about this, and it's one of the longest thread on these boards.
Any questions about a new city arena? If not, the interview was a waste.
None.
Although they are fairly interesting to listen to, they dont exactly give good interviews. You just cant expect to listen to that show and actually learn anything.

A new arena should have been asked.

Not sure if the Appy league question would be relevant. Hockey and the Arena league is dying because they suck, nobody watches them, and they have no reason to exist. Minor league baseball at least serves a purpose.
Hockey is dying?

ARENA FOOTBALL IS DYING?

That's interesting. I'm sure the multiple indoor football leagues still around would be interested to hear about this.

Actually, the only sport I know of that is dying is basketball. That's because the players keep shooting one another.
