Ravens sign RB Parmele off Miami practice squad
Injuries to Rice, McGahee open door for rookie running back from Toledo

The Ravens signed running back Jalen Parmele off the Miami Dolphins' practice squad, bolstering the depth of a banged-up group.

Ray Rice (bruised leg) did not participate in the Ravens' early walkthrough today, and Willis McGahee (shoulder stinger) was also injured in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Washington Redskins.

Parmele, a sixth-round pick out of Toledo, was inactive for the Dolphins' first three games of the season before being waived. He was then added to their practice squad.

"We felt like he was the best player out there on practice squads that we could bring in," coach John Harbaugh said. "We've been kind of studying him all year. There is a chance that he can help us here the last three weeks with our injury situation at running back."

The Ravens' biggest concern seems to be Rice, who leads the Ravens in yards per carry this season (4.2).

"He's got a contusion and it's a bad one on his shin," Harbaugh said of Rice. "It's a painful deal."

To make room for Parmele, the Ravens placed defensive tackle Lamar Divens (shoulder) on injured reserve.
Well, that's pretty cool. Good to see a couple Rockets landing somewhere lately--even if it's late in the season. I'm sure it's a very positive thing for both Jalen and Bruce.
Hmmm...a sixth round running back playing back up for the Ravens...I see good things in the future for Jalen 04-rock

Former Toledo running backs do well with the Ravens
