Has anyone used them? If so are they legit? Do they ship the tickets or are they at will call? $16 is hard to beat, i don't care where they are in the stadium, I am going to be sitting in the Bearcat section regardless.

$16 compared to $125...Can that be legit?

doesnt help UC. they have to buy leftover tickets which takes away money for other things needed. and it doesnt help uc traveling image.
DO NOT DO THAT! Buy tickets full price directly from ticket office. I know its a lot, but it will benefit school. We need to sell most of our tickets. Stubhub is not our tickets.

Maybe not, but it would be hard to turn that down if I didn't already have tickets. Saving over $100 per ticket? Not too shabby. Many people don't have a lot of extra dough to throw around and if I were them and still really wanted to go to the game, this might be a good place to save a huge amount of money to make the trip possible.

That said, I would certainly prefer to also see UC sell out its ticket alotment as well.
Half the fun of attending this game is going to be sitting in the UC section. For those of you who do not attend many away games, being in a sea of C-Paw gear, jumping around screaming and high fiving complete strangers has a value all its own.

If you go through the expense of going all the way to Miami and you are looking to save a few buck on the seat, feel free. But false tickets are everywhere and it doesn't help the program one bit. I wouldn't do it on a bet.
Buy through UC, consider the extra you pay to be a contribution directly to the athletic department to help UC with the practice fields & Nippert expansion.

Rath I could not agree more. I went to West Va, UL, Marshall and Akron this year Its just a great experience to be surrounded by Bearcats

Agree completely, the PapaJohn's Bowl last year with 10,000 Bearcat fans banging thunder sticks together was freakin' sweet. I can't even imagine what the Orange Bowl atmosphere is going to be like 04-rock

I'll second this statement. The first away game the wife and I went to was the Pitt game last year. We had 4th row seats at the 20 just a few sections away from the UC section.
After that game, we decided:
We really dislike Pittsburgh fans.
We will always sit in the UC section in the future.
We had much more fun at the Louisville game this year sitting in the 20th row at the goal line.
How much of the 125 goes to UC?
UC gets none of the $125, they conference is being paid $17.5M from the bowl. UC is responsible for selling all 17,500 tickets, however, and if they don't sell them they eat the $125 per ticket remaining.
gocats30 Wrote:How much of the 125 goes to UC?

I don't think UC really "gets" any of this due to bowl costs, BUT the much larger issue is that UC will be forced to eat the cost of each and every ticket of the 17,500 allotment that does not end up sold. For example, if UC only sold 10,000 of their allotment then they are out around $1 million to cover the rest of the tickets. This takes away a large chunk of the BCS payout that we can use for upgrading the football program etc.

So in short, please buy your tickets from UC directly.
My understanding is that UC gets an extra $2 million for the Orange Bowl less the value of any of the 17,500 tickets that remain unsold. The rest of the $17 million is sent to the conference to be divided amongst the football playing schools.

Think of it this way, of the first 17,500 tickets sold, all $125 goes to UC.
I think it's bad that a school is ordered to sell tickets that are more expensive than the Orange Bowl is selling them, without any kickback. I know that if I end up going I'll buy through UC, but others might not.

They aren't more expensive than the Orange Bowl is selling them. It is more expensive than the ticket brokers. The brokers have a ton of tickets for the game because they were a package deal with NC game tickets. They will more than make up for their losses on Orange Bowl tickets with their sale of NC Game tickets.
I posted this on another thread. Sorry for the duplication.

I purchased my tickets from Stub Hub. I do not think they would count tickets from Stub Hub, Ticket Master, etc. officially towards UC's total. Does anyone know for ceratain?

Quite frankly, the deals from Stub Hub are a lot better than the UC ticket office. I paid a total, including shipping, of $75 for two tickets in the upper level on UC's side at the 30 yard line. UC has a list price of $125 and they do not say what section or row.

If you look at the seating chart, the stadium is divided into four quadrants. Each quadrant runs from the 50 yard line to the middle of an endzone. Two of the quadrants are sold to the teams; the other two are sold to local residents. This local tickets are a package deal with seats to both the orange bowl and Championship game. The value in the package is the other game, so people are selling the tickets to the orange bowl at under cost. You will be on the visiting side (maybe) but with the local fans not in the UC section. Half the fun of being on the road with the team is being in the in/UC crowd. Depending on how trustworthy the person selling the tickets are you may just end up in the Hookie side.

BTW just heard on the news that VT only sold 14000 last year.
They do not count towards UC's total. I can fully understand that you don't want to pay full price, but I suggest those of you with the means that going through UC will GREATLY help the athletic department. It has been stated over and over, but UC is on the hook for 17,500 tickets. They were basically forced to buy 17,500 tickets from the Orange Bowl, and they are reselling them as to not lose all the extra money they get from the game itself.
