A LOT OF FRUSTRATED HOOP FANS OUT THERE! ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE ALTERCATION - ISSUES BESIDES LOSING ETC. I FOR ONE AM TOTALLY FRUSTRATED WITH THE LOSSES TO UDM - THEY BEAT US EVERY YEAR - NOT GOOD FOR A MEDIOCRE TEAM TO DOMINATE US YEAR AFTER YEAR.

This would normally be a very interesting story as is.

However, this sounds remarkably similar to the incident almost four years ago between one of Boone's assistant coaches and an EMU fan.

Is there something in the S.E. Michigan water?

However, tonight's opponent, WSU, doesn't pose much of a threat.

Coach McDowell can go 1- 0 tonight.

Beginning of the end for Ramsey. When a coach starts getting into screaming match's with a student you know things are turning sour.

By spring of '10 EMU will be in the market for a men's bb coach--if not sooner.

Ramsey has been a major disappointment.

I don't think so at least we are not playing 2 or 3 non D1 teams in the regular season. Nice win to night. Now lets beat Michigan!

Why are you so infatuated with getting rid of coach Ramsey?

Because he is a failure. Unlike football, he has great facilities and a very good tradition to sell. But his results have been more like Genyk's than even Barnes. Guy isn't a good coach. That much is obvious.
His record has been getting better more constantly than Genyks ever did. If we had Medlock this year we would have been a force, much like Reitz and Kool were last year for Western. When you lose your top scorer for the season, it is a big deal and its hard to cover. We definitely would not be sitting with a 2-6 record currently had we not lost Medlock. This season would look much different with a healthy Medlock.

Huh!?!?!?!?

Marygrove?!?!?!?!?!? 03-lmfao

Wayne State (formerly a exhibition game in the recent past)?!?!?! :ncaabbs:

That is TWO, and the only two wins!

They've had more than enough time to adjust to Medlock's loss. They are losing consistently to mediocre to bad D-1 teams (Brown RPI 203, UDM RPI 286). There is a problem and the coaching staff apparently is unable to fix it. That's either bad coaching, bad recruiting, or the players are listening to the coaches, a combination of the prior two. Medlock's loss notwithstanding, Ramsey and Co. has to put up this year or Gragg needs to put someone else in place for next season.

As far as the incident at UDM goes, that's old news and a small matter. EMU basketball has far more problems than that, like the current RPI of 326.
Lorenzo Neely is an assistant at Wayne State. I'm sure that's why we scheduled them.

I have mixed thoughts about the Ramsey situation. I love the way he speaks and how energetic he is. I think he puts a great face to the program. I also think he is great for recognizing how important a guy like Travis Lewis is to the team. I really thought this was our year for the MAC West, but the loss of Medlock probably killed that dream.

I do question a lot of his substitutions. It seems like he rotates players in and out so quickly that it would be hard for the players to get into a flow during the game.

I would like to give him through '09-'10 before making a decision. We will return all of our key players next season and we should have a good team.

NO it hasn't. It has been basically the same the past two and this year will be even worse. If ONEplayer is the difference between a horrid season and a 20 win season than it isn't much of a program. I realized that expectations changed when metlock went down, but to be this bad is simply unacceptable. EMU should still be able to finish .500 without metlock. That doesn't appear to be the case.
However he has been more consistent with his record. Genyk would go 4-8 and then pull out a 1-11 season the year after. How can you say that his results resemble Genyk's?
For the record two seasons ago Rams lost Medlock for the last half of the season.

Last year it was Bowdry.

This year it is Medlock.

Those are not insignificant guys to lose.

Genyk had two 4 win seasons,a 2 win season, a 3 win season, and the 1 win season.

Ramsey won 7 first year, 13 his 2nd, a14 his third and now this season looks like a total disaster. Sounds like a up and down guy to me. This with superior facilities and tradition than what Genyk has to work with. The guy is a flop. He WILL be gone by April of '10.

It is alot easier to win at EMU in basketball than football.

So? Every team has injuries. I could understand earlier on when he didn't have the depth, but now this is his 4 th recruiting class. EMU should have enoyugh depth now to at least remain competitive. At 2-6--two wins over D2 schools--EMU isn't even competitive.

Now add in the altercation with the fan. i don't care whose fault it is, a coach has to be better than that. Ramsey is proving himself to not to be capable of being a head coach at this level. This program is a huge disappointment.
Q: When comes to EMU sports and the opinions of others are you always right and other's viewpoints always wrong?

Our SOS this year is much stronger than in the resent past, it is 33! http://www.kiva.net/~jsagarin/sports/cbsend.htm

Under Boone and even Barnes it was in the 200s!

Let's look at the results on the floor shall we?

Boone's record
01-02 6-24
02-03 14-14
03-04 13-15
04-05 12-18

Ramsey's record
05-06 7-21
06-07 13-19
07-08 14-17
08-09 0-6 against D-I schools as of today

At this point in Boone's tenure fans were screaming for his head. John Bowler's injury did not save Boone's job. Should Medlock's fragile ankles save Ramsey's job when the results are not significantly better.

You, by way of Sagarin, are claiming that EMU's schedule is the 33rd best in the country when Michigan State's is only 37th and they play Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Kansas, and a full Big Ten slate? EMU has had only two quality opponents.

Realtime RPI lists EMU's schedule at 229. Sagarin has EMU listed in the 260 slot with a Predictor of 250. Sounds a bit more like reality doesn't it?

We are talking about the now not when the season ends. And during Boones tenure this time of year we where already in the SOS of the 200s. Yes EMUs SOS will be weaker by the end of the season they don't play any top ranked teams once the MAC season starts and MSU looks to be playing 5 or 6 before the season ends. And we still have UofM and Illinos to play. That means we will have played 3 of top 30 teams! Where as during all the time Boone was here I don't think we play 2 and both of those where in the MAC!
