The New Orleasns bowl matches the sun belt champ versus the 4th choice amongst CUSA bowls. So, basically it is Sun Belt champ versus the 4th place cusa team, and in all the years of the bowl, the sun belt champ has won exactly once.

That's a very misleading statement BlazerMatt. I don't know who you're trying to insult, USM or NT, but to imply that because Southern Miss was in the "4th choice" bowl that they're not a quality team is completely not true. You should know that from experience. And USM finished 2nd in the CUSA, same as three of the other schools that are bowling, including UAB, so the pecking order you refer to is almost irrelevent.
Also, you say that "in all the years of the bowl" that the SB has only won once, if I recall correctly the SB has only had a bowl bid for 4 years. While one out of 4 isn't great, it's not as bad as you're trying to make it out to be.

sorry SB, facts are facts. The new orleans bowl does have the fourth choice, wanted UAB, and was told by the hawaii bowl folks who had the third choice that they would take us if the GMAC bowl didnt. The NO bowl folks then had to hope like hell that southern miss beat us so that they would be eligible and they wouldnt have to take cincy. And yes, as i said, the sunbelt champ has won exactly once, over an overated cincinatti team. /cheer

Do you not understand my post or are you just choosing to ignore it?
Memphis, UAB, Cinci, and Southern Miss all tied for 2nd place in CUSA. Memphis goes to the 2nd choice bowl...does that mean they're better than UAB, Cinci, and Southern Miss? I don't think so considering they lost to two of those teams.
My point is, and maybe you'll understand this time, is that pecking order does not equal quality.
