Provided that Ohio State gets the BCS at large they are expecting its going to be UConn and Ball State. UConn gets traded from the International Bowl for the at-large spot (same people run both games).

I would guess that Notre Dame goes to either the Independence or Texas Bowl because of their late final exam schedule, and WMU goes to whichever of those doesn't grab the Irish. From what I understand our athletic department doesn't want the net financial loss a trip to Hawaii comes with and they are doing every thing possible to avoid it, and for some reason the GMAC Bowl doesn't want anything to do with us.
ANY bowl we go to (and don't lose $$) is a good bowl.

Obviously Motor City is desirable because would be accessible to more of fan base.
I think Couch needs another source besides Ken Hoffman. His blog post lead me to the conclusion that he is getting jerked around a little bit by the folks at the MCB/IB. Notre Dame has made their move and the only thing left that is causing a delay in the announcement is the BCS.

Ball State v UConn Motor City
CMU v Tulsa GMAC
WMU v La. Tech Independence
I'm glad the Texas Bowl is most likely out. I don't have NFL Network on my cable system.
Hawaii was the nightmare scenario I thought. $750,000 payout is quickly eaten up by travel expenses, plus it is a true road game playing Hawaii in their stadium in front of their fans.

And on Christmas Eve, no less. Not the best night of the holiday season to get some friends together at a sports bar for a game-watching party.
Remember back to Darnell's last year with the Broncos. Did you EVER think the fans would be getting fussy about which bowl we prefer? 03-lmfao
Quote:$750,000 payout

I've seen sites that list the payout at only $398,000. We would get no payout from this, only a bill.
I thought I read that Hawaii requires a very low buy-in on tickets, whereas instead of the school having to buy 10,000 tickets (and reselling them), it's only something like 1,500.

Not that it makes up for the total costs, but it would help.

I'm still not fully buying the Hawaii thing until I see an official announcement, though. I still think it's gonna be Shreveport.
The only thing I like about the scenerio is that I would rather play Hawaii then a Sun Belt team.
I, too am skeptical that it is Hawaii until we see confirmation. Remember Kathy B's statements about going to Hawaii about a week or so ago? However, if that is all that is available, I don't see WMU turning it down. Not ideal, but it could be worse.

Hawaii is in a Boise type situation - hosting their own bowl game, a home game for them. I think historically, few teams go in there and win. Might be the travel.

They also have a reputation for being chippy and dirty. Cincinnati just went in there yesterday and pulled one out late over the 7-6 Hawaii team.

Quote:Despite high emotions and numerous personal fouls, mostly by Hawaii, the game was much more civil than Hawaii's 20-19 victory here in 2002, which was marred by a postgame brawl. Cincinnati required a Big East officiating crew this time around.

I also seem to remember a game a few years back where MSU went there, got jobbed, had some brawls and if my memory serves me right, said they would never again travel to Hawaii to play.

If they do go to Hawaii to play, WMU fans will be the losers, as few will be able to go and the game is on Christmas Eve. Not much better than the Texas bowl - if they go and nobody sees it, what does it accomplish for the program? Granted, it is a reward for the players and I understand that. Not saying we should not accept if invited. But .......

I'm hoping for the Independence bowl or Motor City.
As a 7 win team WMU deserves and should demand their rights.

Accepting any bid based on what Notre Dame wants would be cart before the horse.

Just an FYI. La Tech is a WAC team, just like Hawaii.
MCB = CMU vs. San Jose or Florida Atlantic...done deal
How's it a done deal if the opponent hasn't been decided?

wow.

Isn't that what BeatWestern said about a certain basketball recruit about 8 years ago??

wow.

Because CMU accepted the MCB bid...pretty simple math. Done deal.
