The sky is truly falling. Congrats to the Bulls.
Big congratulations to the Coach Gill and his Bulls, what a remarkable job he has done with that program.
What were the odds on a MAC East team being champion at the beginning of the season? Or yesterday?

THATS RIGHT. Eat it MAC West!!!!!

MAC East won the football championship and were gonna win the basketball championship too.
Worst MAC Champ since Akron. Officiating was beyond horrible. Sad sad day for the MAC.
So, a couple thoughts:

- Saying they're the worst champ of the last three (or four) years isn't exactly bold.

- Buffalo is a good team, and probably better than last year's CMU team.
Buffalo 8-5 this year and played decent in its non-conference games. A close loss at CMU and Kent State and they could have been 10-3. Buffalo very balanced team on offense. They make big plays. This wasn't a fluke. Buffalo was a good team. Ball State was thought to be a very good team, but they didn't play that way tonite.
This game turned on a horrible call by a replay official.

Lewis scored, period. That makes it 24-14, momentum in BSU's favor.

It's one thing to miss calls on the field, but when you can't get a replay right, in the most important game in the League's history, you deserve to be viewed as a "second rate conference" by the national media.

The MAC had a chance to put itself on a national stage, and Chryst's hired stooges in stripes once again embarrass the league, and keep them off the national stage.
Even if it was a bad call, they're a part of the game. Ball State still had their chances to win and couldn't get it done.

Crappy officiating is part of the game? In the MAC for sure.

You do understand that one blown call resulted in a 14 point swing? Buffalo did nothing that would indicate they could come back from a 24-14 deficit.

This game turned on two recovered fumbles that happened right after two blown calls by replay officials.

They returned 2 fumbles for TD's. That would have brought them back from a 24-14 deficit.
Buffalo is a very good team.

Once again the officiating in the MAC sucks, likely had a bearing in the outcome of the game. (fans of every team in the conference have voiced this)

Ball State laid the football on the ground too many times to overcome against a good team. What made Ball State so good - playing a clean game, ie, no turnovers or penalties, they didn't do last night.

Buffalo is MAC champs, period - end of story. Actually, quite an uplifting story considering the Bulls struggles in football since joining the MAC. It shows that a turn around can occur anywhere.

One other thought.......Eastern beats Central, Kent beats Buffalo, Miami beats BG, etc, etc. The difference between the top & bottom of the conference isn't all that much - it wasn't that way all that long ago.

Congrats to the Bulls and their fans, feels pretty good this morning doesn't it.
I will say that Gill's job was made somewhat easier than Hoffener's who proceeded him because the Bulls had been in FBS for 7 years and finally had legit MAC level talent across the board.

Gill had some players to work with as do almost all MAC coaches but it was his ability to manage it to a MAC championship that makes him a great coach.

I think he would be a great candidate for the Washington job where expectations are low but from 1977-2003 played every season at .500 or better.

Fans of every sport in every conference constantly complain about officiating and every last one believes the officiating is worse in their conference than anywhere else. And most of them believe it hurts their team more than it does others.
Every winner overcomes bad calls in a game that go against them. Losers blame the losses on bad calls rather than how they might have better responded to the adversity.
It's as predictable as the sunrise.
I swear there are people who go to games to focus on the officiating, especially in basketball. They are sour and miserable people.

I didn't say BSU lost solely because of the officiating, just that I believe it was a factor. Look, I'm not from either school, just a MAC fan watching the game on TV. I think the officiating influenced the outcome.

Honestly, if BSU doesn't turn the ball over 3 more times after the 1st fumble, they still may have very well won the game.

As I also said earlier, turn the ball over too many times and you likely lose the game.

Ball State is still a very good team. 1 game doesn't diminish the first 12.

Congrats to Buffalo. Enjoy your championship.

Well, there was that 20-point comeback in the 4th quarter at BG...
