Does anything think we should change the starting lineup? I know we've won 5/6 games with our original starting lineup, but for the most part, the games have been pretty close. Davis also has brought up the fact that he wants to rest Vaden, Delaney, and Kinnard more in the first half. Therefore, I would propose this lineup:

Aaron Johnson
Paul Delaney
Robert Vaden
Lawrence Kinnard
Howard Crawford

Here is my reasoning... Channing Toney is a very good player. He hasn't scored the way he did at points last year, but as pointed out by some other posters, he does a lot of dirty work and little things that have really helped us out. However, he often has to guard a guy much taller than him and because of this is a defensive liability sometimes. Off of the bench, he could come in to give Vaden/Delaney a rest, and I think he would score more as well because he would probably be one of our primary scoring options with Vaden or Delaney out. Then, we could sub Roderick in for Crawford and bring Crawford (or Moore) back in to give Kinnard a rest. Although Roderick has been inconsistent for the most part, he has been fairly consistent in rebounding and has a lot of potential. Keep in the mind that one of our best post players/rebounders last year (Huffman) is only an inch taller than Roderick and both probably have the same amount of athleticism even though they are a different type of player. Another option would be to keep Toney in the lineup, start Delaney at point and put Crawford in for AJ. However, I like Johnson at point, and I like my first option better.

Obviously, this is just my opinion, and I am not the coach or any type of basketball genius. If Coach Davis believes that our current starting lineup gives us the best chance to win, I believe that as well.

Comments?
I sure wish we still had Reggie Huffman this year. He would be a big asset on the boards, and would help fill the gap left by Jeremy's underachieving arse.
I like our current starting lineup. Crawford tends to get into foul trouble. Waiting until the game is underway to get in might make him more productive.

Besides, starting isn't that important. Many times a player makes a much bigger impact by coming off the bench than he does by starting.
What is the point of changing the starting lineup? The coaches know better than any of us who to start. If not, they should be fired and we should take their place.
Dibs on halftime speeches!!!

Wow, AB. I'm gonna have to call you out on that one. If we don't know more than coaches, then what are message boards for?03-lmfao

LO last year is a great example
Well...............I don't like to brag.

Where is WOKKA?
Davis shut down his internet privileges, one day per turnover.

So that puts him back sometime early next week?

But that's what I'm saying. I think Toney could have more of an impact coming off the bench. I do, however, think you brought up one of my major concerns with my proposal: can Crawford be effective? I don't know, but it is an assumption I am willing to make. Keep in mind he started a few games last year.

Like I said, I will support whatever starting lineup Coach Davis chooses, and I am no coach. The whole point of my option is for the purpose of better rotating out the starters. I actually was thinking of my own possible solution for an issue brought up by Davis: resting out Vaden, Delaney, and Kinnard. I think a bench with Toney, Roderick, Berrios, and Moore might be more apt to do this than a bench with Crawford, Roderick, Berrios, and Moore.

Lastly, I want to reiterate that this is just a possibility, not a call for action, and I am fine with our current starting lineup but believe this proposed one might be a way to rest our "big 3" more.

Jr, if eligible, will be a great addition b/c he will be able to fill in for PDIII and Vaden and give them rest when needed. Jr of last year was a whole different player than Jr of two years ago....but so was the team.

Where is WOKKA?

He's chasing the balls that Trod threw away last night, he's almost got them all rounded up.............he'll be right back.03-lmfao

Seriously, I am a huge Trod fan, have been since I first saw him. He might develop into a fantastic point guard one day, but this day is not that day.

I'm a big Terrence Roderick fan as well. However, last night he played like another freshman I remember - Asa Woods.
I like what trod brings to the floor: athleticism, natural scoring ability, good defense, and nice size.

However, he needs to become more comforatble with playing at the college level. Once he adapts, he'll be good

I mentioned before in a different thread, but his offensive rebound was huge and if he didnt get it that game is chalked up in the "L" column
