I was never impressed with his recruiting (despite the annual happy talk on this board/.

I believe Genyk did a better job developing talent then recruiting talent.

Just my gut feeling. The offense could be explosive, the kids were much stronger, heard that academics were better.

Lot of PROGRAM MANAGEMENT items went well.

Agree or disagree?

Agree.

Genyk has a good offensive mind. His biggest problem IMO was that he didn't give enough attention to defense. If his teams had even an average defense they would have been .500. It's ironic that the two highest profile players during his time at EMU were defensive players - Jones and Holzclaw.
Genyk recruited athletes in my opinion and then tried to fit them into positions. I agree that he probably was a better developer of talent than recruiter.
Generally most FB coaches at EMU will have trouble recruiting. I believe posters like Warrior and Attack have indicated that.

Attack went through a litany of shortcomings EMU has in to terms of facilities vis-a-vis other MAC teams.

I believe our best hope is for a coach like Ron Cooper or Fred Jackson who could sell ice cubes to Sarah Palin or an eskimo.

I believe Genyk could have succeeded at many MAC schools but not schools like EMU, UB or KSU which needed to be built from scratch and required some great recruiting.
That being said Genyk does leave his successor a perhaps potent offense. It will interesting to see if the new coach varies the offensive scheme to more a ball control offense which keep our defense more rested.
