.........take over play calling duties for the offense?

I say he should. We only have one game left, so it really doesn't matter. It would solve one problem.(Run, run, draw) I think it's safe to say we wouldn't see that again.05-stirthepot
I'm not entirely sure if some of the draw plays were originally pass plays. IMHO it looked as if the CBs had tight coverage on all of our wide outs and the offensive line's pass blocking opened up a hole for Webb to run through.

But would "draw, draw, run" be any better?

The pass plays that turn into runs isn't what I have a problem with. Running a draw play on 3rd and long is what I have a problem with. Also using the spread inside the five yard line going in. We have also run a draw on more than one occasion out of the spread in a goalline situation. If you're going to pound the ball in the middle, line up in a real goal line formation and smash your way in. That's what ECU did on their final score. IMO, Callaway would prefer to do it that way. In the spread you can't use a play that I think would score every time. Line up in a tight goal line formation, and then have Webb fake the hand off and go around the end on a bootleg. No one can catch him on the outside. If they did, he has a good chance of making a move and scoring anyway. Add a draging tightend or someone running a route in the endzone to that play and you could score every time. They should only spread it out when they have a play they know will work. If you're going to run a draw, why not use Brooks instead of Slaughter.01-wingedeagle
Maybe we should hire Tony Franklin for the last game of the season. That's what Auburn did, and it worked out really well for them! 03-idea

"Maybe we should hire Tony Franklin for the last game of the season."

That would be fiscally irresponsible.
We scored on our first drive Saturday night (although our first third down was a broken play). The next 7 drives were 3 and out. On each of those, the first play was a run.

I thought we played better on Saturday night. I especially thought our defense passed some good licks. We just need more ball players. Hopefully that will come.

See, there's this recent innovation called the play action pass...

Follwed by a play action pass roll out bootleg where the RB whiffs the block on the backside blitzer and is open in the flat for a 2 yard pass that turns into a 15 yard gain. It is one of my favorites from Bruce Arians, the Steeler's OC.

What has happened to Aaron Johns??? All the hype about him last year as we waited for him to get eligible and then,,,,,, he has basically done a disappearing act this year (injured perhaps?? most of the season???)
