Who is Chris Fowler?

A tool, apparently. 03-puke
He has NW 24th. They're pretty good, right?
Mike Ceide and Aditi Kinkhabwala rule!!! They have BSU at 11 and 12.
Northwestern is really, really good. Indiana just barely beat them.

Exactly.
Chris Fowler helps decide whether a team such as Ball State will make a BCS bowl, and hence, dictates how much money each MAC school earns in any given year.[/code]
Here's some commentary from the ESPN boys justifying their votes. Apparently BSU doesn't have to "lace it up week in and week out" when they play the likes of lowly CMU, WMU, NIU, etc... 03-banghead
Not having to play tough competition is a tired, old argument.

Here's why:

1) Most of the BCS teams play three or four HOME games. One or two against I-AA schools and two or three against nonBCS teams. And guess what? Worthy non-BCS opponents have won or played competitively in many of those contests.

2) Most of the BCS squads get to play anywhere from one to three games a year against weak in-conference competition (the number depending upon the league and the year).

This results in the BCS "elite" playing, on the average, 6 of 12 games against "worthy" BCS brothers. Since James likely didn't pass his SMU course in Rudimentary Math, that's 50%, Craighead.

Furthermore,

3) Most nonBCS schools are never going to be invited to a BCS conference, but if they were, you can bet their recruiting would improve somewhat, providing the depth needed to compete "week-in and week-out".

4) Nobody seems to be griping about Cinci, South Florida, and Louisville. They were in the same boat as the rest of us just a few years ago. They seem to be doing just fine and Cinci is on the cusp of an Orange Bowl berth.

5) It's irrevelent whether or not a team could survive the weekly "wars" in the BCS leagues. The question is: "Can they be competitive on the big stage for ONE GAME?" So far, they have shown it two out of three times (wins by Utah & Boise St; loss by Hawaii)".

If the Cragheads of the world ran collegiate athletics, there would be no stories about George Mason (hoops), Boise State (football), Fresno State (baseball), Akron (soccer), Central Michigan (wrestling), or Kent State (golf), among many others. It would be purely the semi-pros of Massive U.

Yet that's a tougher schedule than IU, UI and UM.
