Will playing in the NIT Final four hurt our RPI????

According to Realtime RPI
24 UAB
56 Oklahoma
79 Purdue
157 Boston College

Just kidding I know its too early for the RPI, but still I thought it was nice that we were the top RPI team. By the way Butler is #1.

Also, Boston College lost today to Saint Louis of all teams. Score was 53-48.
Hey Memphis Blazer, is there a consolation game in the NIT???
Yes. Losers play Friday afternoon
Well, at least we get two games regardless. I hope we win but if we don't we still will get another quality opponent!
Yup, win or lose we get two games with teams that should be very good RPI for us.
Let me be the first to say that I don't think the RPI will be as big of a factor as in the past. Kenpom will not even do an daily RPI because he thinks it has become irrelevant for his usage for the most part.

Well we have moved up from 24 to 23 since I started this thread. So the RPI must be good for something.
Really when you look at it, the games at MSG will be the most UAB-friendly games we've played all year. We'll probably get a lot of cheering, because everyone loves the underdog at these types of events.
Ken pom is a numbers nut (like me). He did his rpi for "fun" (no income) - he is bored with the RPI - once he had the setup (which would be a lot of work) its data entry and answering the same questions from different people year after year and wants work on his next game predictor.(sargrin type approach.)

The RPI is the same to the committee its importance as always will depend on the committee - one guy getting bored has nothing to do with it. It's purpose is to measure strength of your wins and schedule. Most years it is used as a lower seeding tool below first four seeds and last few in or out tool - not decisive just a tool.

As a non- BCS (I hate mid-major) it is math and fairer than most computer services
