Cold Pizza on ESPN said this morning Mack Brown's contract got extended another 10 years for 25 mil.

thats good money - one guy said they are only keeping him there because he has doubled the fund raising
That's a whole lot of money on top of what he's already made.

<a href='http://www.firemackbrown.com' target='_blank'>FireMackBrown.com</a>

I bet these guys are not happy with it.
I'm sure the guys with that website will get over it.

The only thing his critics have is not having beaten Oklahoma.

Obviously, the powers that be at the University of Texas are looking at the big picture.
I don't know enough about texas football and Mac to comment personally but one guy on cold pizza "dogged" Mac pretty bad saying he has not won a Conf. Title in 21 years or something like that

they are in a whole different situation there - we have to worry about attendance and the BOT
Mack Brown has never won a conference title ANYWHERE. His only ring is a Big 12 South championship. If Brown is worth $25 Million, what are Bob Stoops and Pete Carroll worth?
I don't put much credence in what media people say when they want to criticize coaches - unless it's a case where the person has been a coach themselves.

There are a lot of factors differentiating UAB and Texas - not just attendance and the Board of Trustees. I would say facilities and budget would be the primary differences. The Longhorns being in a BCS conference would be another.
The BIG $$$$ boosters love Mack and that's why he's staying around.

I've heard Toby Keith has a man-crush on Mack Brown. 03-wink
This new is like extending WB's contract--your coach sucks, yet the University EXTENDS the contract?

I bet the alumni donors are quite pissed off.

Speaking on contract extensions...when does WB's contract end>
BlazerSax, please tell me how the following information means the coach "sucks"...

1999
9-5 (Cotton Bowl)

2000
9-3 (Holiday Bowl)

2001
11-2 (Holiday Bowl)

2002

» Mack Brown is one of the hottest coaches in America. A Coach of the Year finalist in three of the past six seasons, Brown has led his teams to 13 consecutive winning seasons and 11 bowl games in a row.

» In five seasons under Brown and the Longhorns staff, Texas has featured a Heisman Trophy winner, 17 All-Americans, 23 first-team All-Big 12 selections, two Big 12 Offensive Players of the Year, a Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and six Big 12 Freshman of the Year honorees.

» Under Brown's guidance, Texas has posted back-to-back 11-win seasons and five consecutive nine (or more) win campaigns for first the time in school history, ranked as high as No. 2 nationally, featured the only 3,000-yard passer, the only 2,000-yard rusher and the only 1,000-yard receivers in UT history, and finished the regular season ranked among the nation’s Top 25 in five straight seasons for the first time since 1971-75.

» Brown’s 69 victories over the past seven years rank in fourth place nationally among Division I-A coaches.

» In 19 years as a head coach, Brown has coached 63 players who have been drafted by the NFL. Five of his players have been selected in the first round of the past five NFL drafts.

» Brown is the only active head coach nationally to post at least nine wins in each of the last seven seasons (1996-2002).

According to firemackbrown.com, he sucks. No conference championships...no national championships.
OK, let's compare the two websites - fact vs. opinion.

Every coach in America who hasn't won a conference championship or a national championship should be fired?

There won't be too many coaches around after that, for sure.

As long as WB is gone
Well, that's not going to happen - so I guess you'll just have to go on being disappointed. Look at the bright side - at least it will give you something to continue complaining about.

So with this logic, since you have never played Carnegie Hall, you suck as a Saxophone player.

Technically, yeah. Carnegie Hall means you've "made it" as a musician. Until then, you're still pretty much a nobody.
That's great logic.
When you have as much talent as Brown has had over the past five years, you should win a conference title.

Heck, even Mackovic won one. And while I hate to mention it, so did Dubose.
