The biggest game of the year in the MAC and we get a biased alum spewing homerism all over the air waves. Ray Bentley lacks the professionalism to call a CMU game, and he made that clear during the Ball State CMU game. It was a pathetic display.
What game were you watching? 01-wingedeagle
Did you by chance watch it with the sound off? It was like listening to the game on the home teams radio network. The review of the interception with :58 left was particularly terrible.
I was mostly in another room listening to the TV feed. I never got any bias but maybe I wasn't paying enough attention. It did seem like there was more talk about LeFevour than Davis but LeFevour had a bigger night and in my opinion is the better collegiate QB.
Liam, I seldom agree with you, but in this case I do.

Bentley was not good tonight because he lacked impartiality. He got way too involved in personal wants and failed to include Ball State in his reporting. Lots of great stories on the BSU side of the field this year, but nobody got to hear them.

Poor job, Ray Bentley. Didn't make your alma mater look good as a result.

I thought the announcers were dead on about the review. I thought BSU DB let it touch the ground in real time and the replay confirmed.

Most of the game I had the sound off though.
your way off base, great game, great crowd, great TV. yeah he was biased, but he always talk good about MAC. I'd rather have Bentley, then someone who can't name what teams are in the MAC.
Yes, Ray wore CMU on his sleeve last night. How 'bout you Western fans pony up the registration fee so he can attend next spring's Dick Enberg Workshop on Broadcaster Neutrality?
Ray was fine and I thought he mentioned that it was not an interception before the announcer did. The best part was when the announcer called him Ray Lewis though 03-wink
Did Pam Ward have a sex change? She looked and sounded different last night.
I think one of the homerism highlights of last night's game is when time was running down in the 4th quarter, and they brought out the chains to do a measurement. The guy bellows, "The good news is that it will stop the clock!" LOL.

Nice pun, even if it was unintended.

How 'bout the alleged missed face mask call that he went on about.

Or "there's a late hit by BSU that was missed". Or "that was a cheap call on a hold by Anderson". If one could review the tape its so obvious.

He went on and on.

Never acknowledged WMU's game w/BSU when persuaded by the play by play guy to respond until the game was over and he noted that CMU was still in play w/a WMU win.

Perhaps the BSU fans can chime in but its good to see the CMU fans acknowledge this guys incompentance and bias.

Did she actually sound feminine and look decent?

100% AGREE
There are plenty of posts on the BSU site about Bentley. I had a friend call me and asked me who the color guy was doing the game. He had no idea who Bentley was until I told him.

Maybe it was just my perception but it just seemed like he harped on every call that went BSU's way or was missed by the refs that would would have went in the Chips' favor.

I tried to count how many times the missed facemask was addressed (and that was bad) but got drunk and lost count.

I don't care if it is CMU or WMU or Temple but I would have hope ESPN or anyone else would not want to put a former football player of that team to do that team's game. I mean the guy played for CMU. I'm sure it would be tough for a former player to be impartial so why put him in the position?
Ray might have sounded biased a few times, but that goes with the territory and it wasn't that bad. For the most part he was right, even if it sounded biased. The missed face mask call that was a holding call on CMU, he was dead-on right that it should have been called. There were a few others I agreed with him on as well.

Remember when Griese would be in the booth for UM games when his son played there? He was biased as all hell. When Speilman does an OSU game he does a good job of staying professional, but you still get some of the biasness from him. When Bob Davie does a Notre Dame game you get all kinds of ND bias from him. Lou Holtz was saying at the beginning of the season that ND would win 11 games, even though everyone told him he was nuts. It's just natural for someone to have some sort of bias for their school like that.
So no one has even mentioned that Bentley's son will hopefully see some playing time next year.....AT CENTRAL MICHIGAN !!!
He immediately ripped Hoke for the call on 4th down which he was succesful ultimately leading to a td but when Butch went for the fake punt it took the power of Zues to pull it outta him that the call was screwed up. He seemed a bit shocked that his school would make the call ultimately pinning it on Butch, after a bit of thought for a guy who has never put much thought into his commentary..
I sure didn't understand that fake punt by CMU...there were still 4 minute left then....

I was really suprised by that call.
