Up on Auburn at the half. If they beat Auburn they should be at the very least VERY CONFIDENT, when they play GT at home. Could Mercer make it into the top 25?
Mercer beats Auburn 78-74. If they beat GT at home, they should be ranked in the top 25.
I'm drained!!! I payed for it on all accees Auburn TV.... what a game! THE BEARS!
AWESOME!

When was the last time the ASUN had a team in the Top 25?

College of Charleston? GA STate?
First time Mercer has defeated two SEC teams in the same year since 1952! Another total team effort, and it was extremely fast and physical. The team just played confidently, and controlled the tempo. I'm so happy to have Hoffman as our new coach. I know some members on this board were skeptical to fire our previous coach... I think we can put that to rest!!!!!!!!!

A HUGE advantage on the boards again, Mercer outrebounded Auburn by around 26 boards.
WOW!!! Congrats! This is huge! You've knocked off two SEC teams in a week!

I'd guess CofC. I can't remember if Ga State was ever ranked, but I know CofC was.

I'm really excited for Mercer (and MercerFan!!) - I listened to the Mercer broadcast and thoroughly enjoyed the Bears' announcer calling the game. Also impressed with Coach Hoffman in the post-game interview.

Keep it up, Bears!!

That is an amazing statistic.
I really like our league (and message board) because we rally around each others teams in non-conference play. If you get FSN South in your area, watch the Georgia Tech @ Mercer game at 1 PM on Saturday!!!

OrangeCamel -- I'm glad you liked our radio announcer, I wish he was doing the ASUN.tv broadcasts.
Oh yeah -- and ESPN didn't even cover the Alabama game. So they better put up a story now!
Great job Mercer!
That's a pretty impressive week from Mercer. I reckon they should think about backing it up in conference play, though!
Thanks for helping the conference RPI! 04-cheers
Men’s Hoops Ranked No. 1

MACON, Ga. – After downing Southeastern Conference opponents Alabama and Auburn in a four-day span and starting the 2008-09 campaign with an unblemished 3-0 record for the first time since 1984, the Mercer men’s basketball team has been rewarded with the top spot in CollegeRPI.com’s rankings.

The College RPI takes into account a team's winning percentage (25%), its opponents' winning percentage (50%), and the winning percentage of those opponents' opponents (25%) when ranking every team in the nation. The Bears check in ahead of every traditional Division I roundball powerhouse in the country for the first time since the inception of the Ratings Percentage Index in 1981.
Congrats Mercer! Well Done! Keep Making the A-Sun proud. [/align]
