Might as well get this started. I believe one poster overheard a Clark Atlanta coach talking pretty confidently about this matchup tomorrow night, so it looks like we will have a game on our hands. I know it might sound silly, but this is a big game for our young guys. A win here puts us back above .500 and continues to give our young players a taste of success as they work hard on the practice court.

Anybody got any thoughts on the game?
I think this game is going to be big for our young players as well. I think we have to play good to win this game. However, I wouldn't put too much stock in what the Clark coach says because he is a pretty cocky guy. Our guys need this game before going on the road that is for sure!
As far as their coach being cocky, I have to say Clark Atlanta had the absolute worst fans out of all of the games at the Convocation Center last year. I sit right next to the visiting team (probably should change that next year 03-banghead) and they were outright poor sports.

God forbid they actually win the game. I might just throw up.
Are you guys seriously sweating Clark Atlanta?
I'm not...

MercerFan - Were ya'll seriously sweating Georgia College and State University? I sweat every game...doesn't matter who we are playing. I am sure a lot of Alabama fans weren't sweating Mercer a few days ago, and now they look like idiots. A fan can be optimistic and humble at the same time. Reality is that in college basketball a lesser team can beat a greater team on any given night. I think we are better than Clark Atlanta, but it doesn't mean that we don't have the potential to get beat.

So true, especially in college basketball and especially with a young team like KSU. The more I travel the country and watch basketball at all levels, the more I realize that there are good players everywhere. In a given game, like KB said, anything can happen. This sounds cliche' as hell, but there's a lot of truth to it. Last week I watched a NAIA team that could hang with a lot of mid-major programs.

I like KSU in this game by at least 10, but if GC & SU get hot and/or are an experienced team, KSU could lose.

The games you are comparing it to are exhibitions (Georgia College & St. @ Mercer; and Clark Atlanta @ Georgia St.) ... It's good to be humble and understand when there's potential for a loss. It's another thing all together to even entertain losing a regular season game to a non-D1 school. It just doesn't happen, and would be insane.

If I'm home tonight I'm gonna watch the first few minutes of this game now...
True. Like I said, I'm still not worried. Ingle's put a decent product on the floor. It's obviously geared for growth and a build up for the start of post-season eligibility, but it has the potential to do some damage this year after what I saw in our little tourny over the weekend.
I'll be honest and I thought KSU would be 0-2 to start the year. I was very surprised to see the blowout first game of the year. So hopefully I get to see some of this game and see who your scorers are.
We are just still so young, and two of our best 7 players are injured right now. Imagine Mercer without their best post player, and another one of their top 6 and tell me how confident you would be. A good analysis would be to take Emerson and Henry out of your lineup...how confident would you be right now? We have decent depth to cover these injuries, but we still are not putting our best lineup on the floor right now. At our level we need everyone to contribute...Mitchell and Cummings would contribute to our team...especially in the paint, and they are not available right now.
How much longer until Mitchell is available? Anyone have any idea? I don't know details but I'm not banking on getting Cummings back this season. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I'm not sure about Mitchell because he is recovering from surgery but Cummings will find out today if he is cleared to play or if he will have to redshirt this season.
Wow - that is some information....hopefully he finds out good news today Owls_Basketball.
Good news Owls Basketball. Thanks for the response. Has he been able to practice any with the team? In other words if he is cleared, when would he be ready to go?
The way I understand it he has not practiced at all with the team. The doctors have not cleared him and he said that he was going to the doctor's today and they should know something today. I imagine if he is cleared he will play. This would be a great opportunity to get a game under his belt before the road trip. If the doctor's do not clear him then he will have to redshirt this season.
If he hasn't practiced, then there is no way he would be ready for game action for atleast a week or so. We would be lucky to get him ready by USC-Upstate to be honest. No practice means that he has never run through the plays, the defenses, etc...that is a LOT of catching up to do.
i was afraid i wasn't going to be able to go, but it appears now as if i am. I'm psyched, even if it's just Clark Atlanta. I'm hoping to see Mitchell tonight. i feel that that may be some wishful thinking though. what do you think KB?
Halftime the Owls are up by 8. McConnell and Nickerson carrying us tonight. Neither Mitchell or Markeith dressed out to play.
