Maybe Kelly's hand waving reaction was him telling Kragthorpe "You know what forget about it" when Kragthorpe apologized about the "UC stomping the Bird" accusation. Who knows.
Thanks for the clearing that up although coming from Kragthorpe... who knows? But let's concentrate on Pitt.
Below is taken from Josh's blog on gobearcats.com, apparently written from the press box before the game. Why would he write this if it didn't happen? It seems to be "comtemporaneous written evidence" (to use a phrase we all came to hate.) I hate to be the one to bring this up, but I didn't write it. And I'm very disappointed. I'd really wish we were above this sh*t.

From Josh:
As I'm writing this, some of the Bearcats, in their weekly ritual, gather around the 50-yard line (around the Cardinals logo this week), hold hands and pray. Then, of course, they immediately began to stomp on it.
Somebody just asked why they don't pray in their own locker room. The response: "Have you been in the locker room?" A point well taken, I'm sure.
I don't know why Josh would write that, but on the Louisville board there are fans who went to the game, and they said that UC went to midfield, got into a circle and prayed, and then walked off to practice. ESPN said the same thing, and prior to the game they showed the UC players huddled in a circle holding hands. Maybe a few players jumped up and down to warm up, I don't know. But Josh's blog and Kragthorpe are the only people who said that UC stomped on the bird. Not one Louisville fan has said that UC stomped on the logo. In fact, the bullcrap that people keep saying of UC stomping on the logo several years ago didn't happen either. UC clearly were jumping around and firing themselves up at midfield, like they always do. I saw UC do the same thing at Nippert Stadium that year. Funny how the Louisville game happens to be the only game where UC is accused of this,
Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous. Who gives a sh*t if a player jumps on a painted cardinal head on the freaking football field. I wouldn't be offended if a couple Louisville players jumped around on the C Paw at midfield before the game. If Louisville doesn't want anyone to jump around on it maybe they shouldn't have put it on the ground at midfield.
it's got to do with all the Fraternities and sororities BS crap, thats the way it is, it'll never change.

Josh is under the impression he's a tremendous wit, a funny guy. He's mistaken, of course - and a pretty self-absorbed "reporter" as well. Had he said that line about "then they stomped on the logo" I'm sure we would have seen his kidding in his expression or heard it in his voice. But he failed to remember he was only writing, so he therefore helped contribute to the problem.
I just read the blog and I think you're right George. lol

George, you're probably right. I didn't think of it.
