New York state at its finest right there. Screwing a bunch of kids over what's basically a drop in the bucket. But if a union says "boo," they roll over like a dog.

It's incredible what's happened to that guy featured in the article. The Army tried to recall him even though he was honorably discharged and the VA declared him "10%" disabled. He's deaf in one ear and has impairment in one of his arms and one of his legs. He also has PTSD.

He had to fight the Army recall just to be able to attend UB and now the school tells him he has to pay back $1000 in financial aid they gave him. Hopefully some wealthy person with a soft spot for veterans will scratch out a check for him.
Unfortunately, UB has no say in this. It's the US Department of Education that oversees the Federal Family Educational Loans Program and you are not allowed to overaward students.

But it appears to me that they are taking back GRANT monies. Most schools would reduce the eligibility students would have for loans first before taking away grants and scholarships (unless the grants and scholarships are TUITION specific).

A Vietnam veteran scratched out a check for him. :patriot: Good thing he did because none of those 10,000 six-figure-making VPs UB has would have done anything for him.
