KSU buys site of Gold’s Gym

Kennesaw State University purchased 7.5 acres on Busbee Drive, including the Gold’s Gym site, for almost $4.7 million, Databank says.

KSU bought four parcels from Sam Thomas, Thomas Tate, Mark Montgomery and Ronald Abbott, according to Databank.

The university is banking land for future expansion, said Arlethia Perry-Johnson, special assistant to the KSU president.

Good location there...looks like we will have a split campus, but that is what we are going to have to do in order to expand. I think in 20 years the entire 271 exit will be considered campus. All of the business/commerce will be incorporated into a university themed area. Could actually be really neat if they do it right...bars, restaurants, shopping, hotels all incorporated into a university setting. The key is going to be eventually raising tuition while retaining enrollment, and starting to build up a significant endowment. Without a large endowment our university won't go anywhere...we need a couple of millionaires in the area to start banking on the success of Kennesaw.
Maybe when a couple of your grads go to the NBA, they'll donate a few mill to the school for this.
Talks of intramural fields, sports complex are already in the works for that portion of land. They actually bought all the land to 575, some of which has a lake that will make for a plus to a walking trail

Now is the market to buy...so I think it is great idea to buy buy buy...lock up interest rates that are low...land is as cheap now as it will ever be in that area in my opinion.
I'm sorry I'm a little confused. Can someone explain to me what all KSU has in its possession? There's the land across Chastain, this new purchase, anything else? I feel like I'm missing something.
If you go to google and look at look at the satellite map of the area around KSU you will see an area at George Busbee Dr NW at 3019 marker on the left is the Gold's Gym and they purchased the additional wooded areas around it which is the 7.5 acres. If you look across the street you will see the wooded area with the lake that goes all the way to I-575 which is the 50 acres where they are planning to put the intramural fields and hopefully a football stadium.

I suppose this is all speculation and there's no real way of knowing at this point, but I wonder about the land on the other side of 575 running adjacent to Chastain Meadows Pkwy? I wonder if KSU hopes to also obtain this land? I'm sure the price would be steep because it appears to be larger than the 50 acre plot. Any rumors or thoughts on this idea? Is it even reasonable to ponder?
The most disheartening part about this whole thing is that about 10 years ago we had the opportunity to buy the land that Brandsmart resides on. If we had that, then we would have a bunch of land that is connected, and a prime piece of land on the highway...football stadium would have been incredible right there overlooking the interstate....oh well.
