Favorites: Head coach Steve Hawkins' .659 winning percentage in MAC over the past five years, coupled with the conference's best backcourt in Michael Redell and Shawntes Gary, makes Western Michigan the favorite to repeat in the West.

They also pick WMU as getting NCAA automatic bid.

National forecast: High pressure with high chance of bids
Based on what I saw last night against a traditionally weak D3 school I would say that a more realistic number would be 15 wins. Charleston should be a good temp check. If we can come away with at least one solid W down there then maybe 17 or 18 wins is possible but if we leave Charleston 0-3 then we may be looking at a sub 15 win season.
I think we will win 22 games, we have too much talent on this team regardless i they struggle, which they will but i like where we're at. I went to my 1st basketball game yesterday and enjoyed IT!!! GO BRONCOS!!
Wait until they play a big game. That arena can get crazy when it's full.

You can't put ANY stock in what you see in the exhibitions. Trust a die-hard Lions fan here.

Besides, this team will, without a doubt, become much better as the season progresses.
It's cool to get nat'l regard and in terms of program exposure I'll take it every day of the week, but really, meaningless if we don't meet expectations.

20+ win seasons, mac west titles, mac regular season titles and mac tourney titles are what interest me much moreso than the "the usa today"
From the MAC web site:

2008-09 MAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll
MAC East Division
1. Kent State (16 first place votes) – 124 points
2. Miami (6) – 109 points
3. Bowling Green – 70 points
4. Akron – 67 points
5. Ohio – 66 points
6. Buffalo – 35 points

MAC West Divison
1. Western Michigan (15) – 122 points
2. Eastern Michigan (7) – 105 points
3. Central Michigan – 79 points
4. Toledo – 71 points
5. Ball State – 55 points
6. Northern Illinois – 39 points

So far, so good,

BUT (!!)

Tournament Champion Votes:
Kent State (11), Miami (7), Bowling Green (2), Eastern Michigan (2)

NOT A SINGLE MAC-C PREDICTION VOTE FOR WMU? WTF?

That has been around for awhile steer. Not sure how we don't get any votes and emu does. I will take winning the west right now and call it a season.
