There are still three games left, but it's looking as if UB at Akron could be the decider for the MAC East.

A win will make either team bowl eligible and give them the inside track to a road trip to Detroit.

It will be a tough game for the Bulls. Akron looked to have a strong offense, but that could also be due to Toledo's defense. It's the last game at the Rubber Bowl, so they will definitely come out pumped up.

Us UB fans can get use to this "important games in November" kind of deal.!
This is how it should be.........

> Last game in the Rubber Bowl....04-cheers say bye to the grand ol' lady or what's left of her! 03-puke
> Potential division crown on the Line05-mafia
> Winner is BOWL eligible02-13-banana
> Game is televised NATIONALLY:ncaabbs:
> Buffalo Fans travel well 04-high5
> the Rowdies are 1 of the best spirit groups in the MAC 03-nutkick 04-bow
> Both teams will be pumped

In summation - BIG.... It's gonna be BIG04-rock

If only the game wasn't on a Thursday.
Buffalo would bring a nice crowd (including me) if the game were on the weekend. A few folks have been known to make the drive to Cleveland for some basketball..................

I think Buffalo will be a slight favorite, but Buffalo's defense is capable of keeping other teams in the game. May be a big offensive night for both teams.

The MACC is on a Friday this year but it should be played on a Saturday. I remember when NIU played in 2005 but i, like most other NIU fans and students, couldn't attend because it was on a Thursday. I had a final on that day at 5 pm.
Buffalo vs Akron should be the main event in the MAC East. By far the most consistent teams in the east all year. Even the losses have been respectable for these schools. Two coach of the year canidates in MAC.
Something tells me Buffalo at BG on 11/21 just might have a slight impact on the East. 03-wink
It most certainly will if both teams win their next game. I'm hoping Ohio can come out strong against the Falcons. It's tough to win two MAC East deciding games in a row on the road.

Here's hoping it doesn't 05-stirthepot

No it isnt...03-shhhh
not so fast, Buffalo wins, Buffalo-BGSU is for crown.
Akron wins, Temple-Akron could be for crown
BTW - Does anyone know what the tiebreakers are should Temple and BG end up tied for first since they will not play each other?

Cool, looks like the MAC Website has the goods:

Record of tied teams within the division [versus rank order, highest to lowest, of division teams]

So I guess it is division record then. Still seems odd since this is will not be based on playing the exact same teams 01-wingedeagle

Currently, BG is 3-1 in the Division with one game to play (Buffalo). Temple is 2-1 with two games to play (@ Kent and Akron).

If they are still tied at 4-1, then the winning percentage of their cross division opponents is used which would give it to Temple since BG has a cross-over with 1-4 Toledo. 03-hissyfit
I'm guessing crossover games, which Temple has the advantage [EM is a wash]. Temple played WM & CM compared to Toledo & No Ill.
For Temple to have any shot, Buffalo has to lose to @ BGSU & @ Akron & win out
Unlike the BCS, isn't is nice that the MAC East (and for that matter the MAC West and MAC overall) is decided on the field, and not by polls or computer formulas? 03-thumbsup

What a concept!
I realize the Rubber Bowl is in horrible condition, but I must say the old lady somehow appears "big-time" on the television screen. Agree?

The horseshoe design adds to the feel of a big-time stadium more than anything else. I don't see the games on TV since I'm usually at the games in person, but I can see how a bit of camera-trickery and some high-angle shots could give that feeling. Having one of the blimps (Goodyear has a whole fleet stationed here) fly overhead is pretty awesome, and doubly so if they have a camera on it.
