on what the issue is between Rock 103 in Memphis and the mayor?

I was on their website (http://www.rock103.com), and the first link is "F The Memphis Mayor." It goes to a large logo, and they even have "F The Memphis Mayor" merchandise.
I don't know. I don't listen to Rock103, but many Memphians have issues with Willie Herenton. He was Memphis's first African American mayor, and has been in office since 1991. He has developed a pretty strong political machine and will only leave when he is ready. He has also announced that he is anointed by God. . He has many business interests that some think are conflict of interests. There are way too many controversies concerning him to get involved in here.

I'm just sick of all this PC garbage.

African Americans...whites.

Causasian-Americans...blacks.

whites...blacks.

I don't care WHAT we call each other, but let's pick one name and be done with it. Calling blacks "African Americans" and just calling you and I "whites" isn't being PC. If a black man is an African American, then I am certainly more than just a white man--I'm a Caucasian American.

Personally, I prefer straight-up white and black. Skip the formality and just say it like it is.
I prefer to be called a "cracker".

Sax, I call people what they want to be called, not what I decide they should be called. If your name is Aaron and you want to be called that, I will call you that. It is not politically correctness, just proper respect.

Besides, the terms black or white are not correct terms. They are colors. I have never met anyone who was truly black or white (well an albino once, but you get my point)
Thanks, Memphis. I thought maybe it had been in the paper or the news. They also apparently have a problem with the FCC, so I thought maybe it had to do with something related to their programming.

It may just be the mayor in general.

Well, that's fine. I'm just saying that if we're going to be PC, let's do it all the way or not at all.

Did you even read what I wrote. Or did you just not understand it.

NO ONE IS BEING POLITICALLY CORRECT!!!!!

You are impossible to have a decent argument with because you cannot grasp anyone elses point but your own.

I could have countered with "Well the sky is blue and milk costs more than it used to..." and you would have come back with

"Well that's fine, but I just think...blah blah blah."

Note to self: When Sax says "Well that's fine, but..." he did not read or understand what you wrote.

What are you talking about? 03-banghead

Calling a black person "African American" and calling a white person "Caucasian-American" is PC.

As it is right now, people refer to blacks as "African American" and refer to whites as "white."

You yourself said that nobody is REALLY black or REALLY white, so why do you use the term "white?"

Can you read?
To get back to the question that was asked.....

The mayor claiming to be appointed by God was extremely controversial and there is a portion of the population that turned against him quickly.(that sounds funny to even say) After that, things went downhill pretty quickly. The constant friction with some members of the city councel and public have caused the Mayor to be somewhat overreactive on some issues and that just fans the flames higher.

I think that even his detractors would agree that the Mayor has done a good job in presenting Memphis in a positive light in previous years, but he's sure turned off a lot of folks recently.

Rock 103 does a pretty good job of keeping controversial issues going. That is an entertaining website that they have.....even before the "mayor" campaign.

Let's not forget to mention that he challenged a City Councilman to "step outside".

Outside of the drunk down at the neighborhood bar, who still asks someone to step outside????
Herenton is an idiot and has run this city into the ground. I am white and it is not that I don't like him becuase he is black it is because he is horrible! I wish we could get A.C. Wharton to run. He is also a African-American and has my vote over anybody anyday! I love the guy he could turn this city around! Herenton gives his friends and lawyers $20,000 a year raises! Rumor has it that he won't be in much longer I have heard they have a lot of stuff on him and he can't escape this time!
F THE MAYOR!
