Hi. I am new to this board. How are we going to do in basketball? Predictions?
Welcome, Cap!
I'm hoping it's business as usual for the basketball team: frontrunner to get an NCAA bid from the MAC or an at-large bid. I have no reason to think otherwise at this point. It would appear that our biggest concern is the chemistry of the new team/new coach blending with the veterans. There is no question, I believe, that our backcourt talent and depth is probably better than just about every team we face all season. I think we're all anxious to see our new big men in action and see what we able to do in the paint.
I can't wait to get started!
I hope your ready to waste all of your lunch breaks on this site, all the way through basketball season... because that is what you will end up doing!

There is plenty of talent

BUT

Kent State still has some questions ... defense, toughness among them.

I like what I'm seeing, but there will probably be a learning curve for the group of players who are trying to replace Quaintance and Scott inside
Thanks, guys.
Welcome to the board Cap.
I agree with everything said above, but i do think it will take veteran leadership in the frontcourt in the early part of the season until the younsters can learn the ropes. Would love to see Sully stay consistent and Parks solidly contribute 15 min or so a game, which would make the transition to the program easier for the new/young guys on the inside.
Forgot to add....CHEMISTRY will be a huge factor...I worry whether there will be enough touches to go around the for the big guns in the backcourt(Mincy - 9MM, McKee - 357Mag, Woods & Sing - 12guage, Fisher - Bazooka, & Evens - 50Cal. and I might be understating some or all of these), with some left over for the frontcourt to keep defenders on their heels.
Welcome Cap
13 days!
Cap, I have a funny story about your name that maybe I'll tell later. Anyway, the keys to this season are (in no particular order) (1) injuries (that applies, of course, to all teams), (2) replacing Scott's and Q's productivity; and (3) guys with some "history" keeping it together. This team has the potential to be the deepest Kent State team in 10 years, and should be at or near the top of the league at the 1 and 2 spots, and probably the 3 spot.
Welcome Cap !!!

My biggest concern going into this season is whether or not Geno can mold the troops as a cohesive unit come MAC play. JC proved year in and year out that he could. I guess we will wait and see. We have the talent and experience on the floor, do we have it on the sidelines ? This is certainly not a knock on Geno, just cautious optimism.

Good Lord, will hoop season get here !!!
