Here's the obit:
Quote:Chappell, Ruth Kay Phillips, 70, of Trussville, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Ralph Melvin Chappell, her daughter, Robin Renee Chappell, a brother, Ned Wallace Phillips, a triplet sister, Rita Faye Phillips, and her parents, Thurman Braxton Phillips and Jesse Pauline Phillips.
She was a devoted mother and housewife, and she worked tirelessly not only for her own children, but for dozens of foster children for whom she and her husband cared in their later years. She was a longtime member of Trussville Southside Baptist Church, and a 1957 graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School.
She was born Friday, May 13, 1938, in a birth that made the front page of The Birmingham News as Alabama's first known set of triplets to survive birth. She had a triplet sister who died at age 3, and she is survived by her triplet brother. Her birth, while on a superstitious day, also fell on her father's birthday, which added to the news element of her and her siblings' arrival.
She is survived by her son, Steven E. Chappell (Crista) of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a beloved foster daughter, Andrea Eggleston of Conyers, Ga.; two brothers, Raymond David Phillips (Javell) of Trussville and Donald Roger Phillips of Gardendale; and a grandson, Duncan Neal Chappell, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and three nieces and two nephews.
No visitation services will be held. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Sulpher Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Trussville, Ala., Ridout's Trussville Chapel presiding.
