sorry if this has already been mentioned. I'd be surprised if no one's brought it up though, because it's so important. Obama is promising that he'll vote for it, which to me shows just how far in the pocket of the unions he resides. I just don't see how anyone could want to get rid of secret ballots. Isn't it a basic right?

I know that glenn beck went crazy about this the other day. He was pretty pissed off at the whole thing.
Isn't it ironic the democrats claim to be champions of democracy and want to protect privacy when it comes to voter rights.... but for UNIONS it's a different story. I think someone posted here the only difference between Democrats and Republicans is which lobbyists they take money from. Clearly the democrats will get plenty of Union money in the future.

We all see how the unions have helped make GM, Chrysler, and Ford better more competitive companies. 03-nutkick

Even the previously most liberal Democrat, McGovern, is against it. It shows how desperate the Democrats really are to win the POTUS.

It should be but the liberal media with its unionized employees will never admit there's a problem here.
The prescription for America!!! Everyone either works for the government...or has a Union job...Life will be wonderful again!!03-lmfao

yeah and if you choose not to unionize you'll get vito corleone at your door. i'm actually arguing with a black guy on a hip hop forum who's trying to tell me that obama isn't a socialist. i guess national healthcare, capping the amount of employees a company can fire and getting rid of secret ballots, all while 'spreading the wealth' doesn't make one a socialist.

This is the first I've heard of this. Got more info?

03-lmfao I do have to laugh at the first part of your post. I worked for a supermarket when I was 17ish that was Union-which sucked because a large part of my paycheck went to pay Union dues. Anyway, they wanted to raise the dues so that they could picket non-union stores so they were to vote for an increase. I go in to vote and the minute I walk in and look around, it looks like the whole Corleone "family" was there. I was laughing to myself(hey, I don't want to anger them by laughing out loud). Of course I voted "no"(didn't make enough for it to be in my interest to pay more) and to my surprise(not really) it passed. I didn't work there much longer after that.

Obama is NOT a socialist. He may not be no rules and regulations and thinks helping people is a good thing unlike the Republicans but that doesn't make him a socialist.

Want me to send you my dictionary?
I'm all for it. Let's find the scabs and the closet management. Hey I want to know whose going to war with me. NO secret ballots. We need to strengthren the unions and this is a great first step. Damn I like this Obama.

You've got to be ******* kidding me. This is Nazi ****. It's no wonder you support it, Mach. People should be able to make up their own minds without the threat of losing their job or any physical intimidation by Guido. Lemme guess, next you're gonna be for blacklists? BTW, how well are unionized cities working these days?

You disappoint me.

that's a horrible thing to say. i come from a long line of republicans and we always go out of our way to help people. Have you ever been to a church in the south? they love to help people. Have you ever been the beneficiary of southern hospitality? On the flip side have you experienced rudeness in LA and NYC, or maybe liberal smugness from the kinds of people who frequent greenwich village?

Please don't make a statement like that without thinking first. It's an incredibly ignorant thing to say.

Yeah, I guess some southern churches help people. But what about those that aren't religous or the "wrong" religion? There are rude people everywhere-including the south.

You are absolutely Wright Robert N, because we've never seen a democrat follow someone with questionable judgment.

And there aren't any card carrying democrats that say bad things about people because of their religion.

Democrats are all polite perfect people that have one cause, to help others regardless of any religious or social beliefs. 03-lmfao

Sorry I tried to finish that statement, but you know pot, kettle... 05-stirthepot

War?
How about doing your job, then you don't have to look out for "closet management"? Oh wait, you wouldn't have so much time for poker.

Because they've done so much for the country? Right, like teachers' unions that protect the jobs of unqualified people.

Yeah, this is a great first step to seeing the US in steep decline.
18 posts, and this board still hasn't talked about the Employee Free Choice Act.

I don't really see anything too wrong with it. Don't let companies fire people because they want to form a union, allow majority voting to form unions, allow third party negotiations when contracts stall. Seems like it makes sense to me, please someone tell me why it is evil.
I'm for anything that strengthens unions. They are under attack, but HOPEFULLY change is coming soon.
