Coming up on the Zone... wow.
based on attendance I would say no. based on the media does not like UAB yes.
No, of course not.
And what did the wonderful 'zone' say?
I'm glad so many here think that our continued losing (and this Bull$hit chatter in the local media that follows it) is acceptable for OUR ALMA MATER!

"But, but, we just need more time..."

We've had well over a decade!!

"But, but, zero, and a bare cupboard...and"

I don't give a damn, anymore.

This is UAB, not Bugtussel State.

Win, or get lost!

"The goat" has basically lost it.

Fair enough. At least we know where we stand.03-lmfao
Samford isn't better than UAB in any sport I can think of. People at least know who UAB is... most people in the US don't even know where Samford is. The Zone is just trying to stir people up. They'll probably jump on the UAB bandwagon when it comes to basketball like a bunch of wh*res.

Samford has been better than us in baseball in the past. we generally split with them every year. Obviously, we're in the better conference. They do have better facilities in football and baseball by the way, and their new gym is nicer than Bartow although holds a few thousand less. Seems they are more committed to their sports than us, which is sad.
I'm not sure which one said what as I don't watch the Zone very much, but one said yes, Samford would matter more in B-Ham than UAB b/c of a playoff system in 1-AA and for the fact that UAB games will never be exciting as long as they play at Legion. The other guy just said no, UAB matters more than Samford.
I believe Samford has a good program and has a relatively affluent backing from some very well intentioned supporters. With their new conference and new support structures, they are in very good financial condition. I think though they are as good right now as they are going to get in the near future.

UAB, on the other hand, is down right now, but we are going to get better if no new "sinkholes" suddenly appear in our path. Our prognosis is for sustaining ourselves at a much higher plane of existence than Samford can achieve with their present set up. C-USA has more "up side" possibilities than the SoCon, and if UAB can get its act on the road this winter, we have the potential for far more significant achievements than Samford can shoot for. As Auburn football is proving right now, the brightest prospects can dim in a quick moment when a bad sudden change overtakes you. Nothing can be taken for granted.
I am kinda confused about the question.

My guess is Samford was going to have a story or even cut to the bone remember its on the zone and Maybe UAB had not been mentioned.

ARe you saying That Samford should never be mentioned (especally first) on the Zone because UAB matters more ? If so, you sound like a UAT fan arguing That UAB should not be mentioned because UAT is more important?
You probably needed to watch the Zone [which I don't] for context.
Any sports program that employs the malelick as a 'regular' shouldn't be taken seriously.

Considering a thread got started on here, looks like at least a few take them seriously.
I watch Seinfeld, but I don't take it seriously.
The question is flawed, but I will answer it anyway:

-Samford matters more to Samford fans.
-UAB matters more to UAB fans.

If you assume that The Zone was merely talking about the relation of the respective schools' football teams to the local media, then:

-Samford mattered more on Saturday because they played at home against the #2 Div I-AA team in the country and had the third largest crowd in the history of the school. Samford also kept the score respectable.

-UAB played Thursday, on the road, against a respectable but unranked Houston team. UAB was blown out.

If you want to decide what football team will be more beneficial to cover from a tv ratings and newspaper sales slant:

-UAB matters more. In arguably UAB's worst season and hosting mediocre opponents, UAB has still managed to average double the attendance of Samford's biggest game of the season.

If Samford is successful on the football field, the big payout for the Bulldogs is a spot in the I-AA playoffs. If UAB is successful, we are looking at potential bowl berths, national media recognition, and more stars in our recruiting classes.

Which team is more interesting to Alabama and Auburn fans in Birmingham?

That should have been the real question the Zone asked.
To the thread title.......

No
The question should have been, does Samford matter more to Auburn and Alabama fans than UAB does. Facts are facts, and the question in my opinion, was intentioned for the casual sports fan in Birmingham who generally roots for one of the two state schools.
