How many people said this right after the game? My brother and I had the exact same reaction. They said on the postgame show we had lost 8 games by 7 or less points the last two seasons. Yeah the game was ugly, and yes it should not have been that close, but in the long run it's a good thing. To get a close win finally is huge, and everybody knew it. Kill knew it on the postgame show. Everybody in that stadium (including the players) thought we would blow it, but the nightmare had a different ending today.

The defense has allowed 1 TD the last 4 games. That is impressive no matter who you are playing.
I really thought we were gonna find another way to lose a close game.

So i do agree. FINALLY we win a close game!
Yes, it is good to win a close game.

And for the defense as you say, that the defense has only allowed 1 TD in the last 4 games. Yesterday's TD allowed was a punt return. But we also have played 4 weak offenses.

The way Toledo was able to throw the ball to Nick Moore (20 catches, 160 yards) against Michigan makes me think we are going to give up some points to Toledo and we will need to score if we are going to keep winning close games.
Yeah I wont deny that I thought we were going to lose. But a great win overall, or at least we won, maybe not a great performance in the end. Its an important win in the fact that we didn't choke.

What's this postgame show you're talking about?

But yeah, you are right. The last couple of years we have lost a lot of close games. I hate to say it, but I really thought we were going to find a way to lose yesterday. I think as fans, we've grown accustomed to thinking that way when we've been in close games at the end.

As far as the defense goes, they've played great. However, our offense is going to have to get better. Our defense at some point will probably need the offense to pick them up. Hopefully Harnish can stay healthy, get his reps in practice, and we can finish this season up strong.
We haven't really played against any efficient QBs except against Minnesota and WMU, and they beat us. Toledo will be a tough test. We will need to score around 28 points or more to win probably -unless English & Co. can provide a consistent pass rush and force some errors. It also bothers me that we had so many plays where we ran on first down and only got 1 or 2 yards, and Miami's defense isn't that good. We can't be having Harnish (or whoever) in a lot of 3rd and long situations if we expect to win.
The offense will get better once we have a consistant person in the QB position. It's difficult to have an efficient Offense when you never know from minute to minute who the QB is going to be If Harnish stays healthy, and can practice on a regular basis, look for considerable improvment this week.

Toledo is last in the MAC in giving up sacks. I can see us getting into their backfield a lot.

Miami's defense is 2nd best in the MAC. It's not that bad and it's better than Toledo's. Defenses only get easier from here on out for us. Plus, we don't have to go against a punter like that the rest of the season which means we won't be in as bad of field positions.

It's like the only way anyone can stop Nick Moore is if he gets arrested or something...

Oh.
