And they have a winning team.
CUSA attendance, as a whole, seems to be down somewhat from years past.
The alumni attendance is generally bad because our young alumni base (think 1995-2004) didn't go to games as undergrads because we were godawful in that period. Our most loyal segment of alumni are really starting to get up there in the years.

I would say the students made up at least 1/3 of the crowd at Robertson last night. I'm excited for the coming years because of how much student attendance has improved. They had to open up some general seating near the visitors section since the student section was full.

Excuses aside, I'm not happy with 18k for ANYONE.

But I bet your local media didn't blast your school for having under 20,000 at a Nationally televised football game.05-stirthepot
you can bet our fellow conference mates will criticize us for that number, as well.
How about some of these numbers to come:

UAB/Marshall 2008 (HOMECOMING!): < 11K

UAB/ECU 2008: < 8K*

* I Predict right now that this game will be the first in UAB Football History where the visitors actually outnumber the home side.

I know I will be there. The question is will anyone else be there?
as BandDad posted elsewhere, we have a game so I'll be there.
If BandGrad, Mrs. BandGrad and 'littleman' show, along with BandDad and Mrs. BandDad, and me with my crew, that'll be 10.
GN and Smaug will make 12.
Is it too early to post a roll call for BlazerTalk tailgate? I'm going through 'withdrawal' with no game today.
Nope.. gave my tickets away.
Depressing place to be at.. I can think of lot's of other things I can do.
Actually our local media, including one sports talk personality who was AT the game, ripped us for our attendance.

A lot of it is deserved, but a lot of it is the same old tired insults (i.e. "UH is in a bad neighborhood")

sounds like 'Legion Field is a dump and in a bad area of town'.
Of course, LF was fine as long as the 'crimson cult' played there.
And, a likeness of 'the bahr' remains on the grounds.
ahhh common ground with the Coogs.

We used to get ripped daily for attendance before the local media forgot we existed.
Irvine must read our board.

This is probably off topic, perhaps worthy of a different thread, but... To those who know, aren't there a few CUSA members in urban areas or play their games there (UAB & UH, for example), many of which are considered bad areas? Many also seem to have medical schools as well. I guess I'm trying to determine common ground or similarities CUSA schools have. Also, isn't the Memphis-UT relationship is very similar to the UAB-UA relationship. Any others?

Yeah.

'Cause that's what "fans" do.

Well, that's one option - quit on your school.

OR you could continue to come and support the team now in its low period so we can come out better off in the high period.

I've never quit on the team.

But lately the team has quit on me.

Legion might not see me either this weekend. I haven't decided yet. I'm mad as hell.

If there's a lifeboat left, it's stupid as hell for the captain to go down with his ship. Principle means nothing when oblivion yawns before ye.
