I read in the last year or two of the renovations and other improvements, e.g., FieldTurf.

How much did phase 2 cost?

Did they indicate the size of the beautiful Jumbrotron? How much did it cost? (I believe it is the best in the MAC, not counting Temple's 05-nono ).

What exactly was phase 2? Facade, concessions, jumbotron, press box, endzone improvements???

Looked really good on TV last Saturday.
Someone else can give the details on cost. From memory, which gets more dangerous by the day, think the renovations were a few million.

KSU got a break on the jumbotron. The vendor wanted a place to showcase its size and capabiities as a test site, so picked us.

For some reason, the vendor thought people would see it at Dix.03-confused
Phase 2 was around $4 million, which obviously is relatively cheap and makes the whole stadium look better. You pretty much nailed what KSU improved, but they did also get a new entrance and ticket offices that you couldn't see on TV. I wish we could do more on the east side of stadium, but for the money that we spent on Dix, it looks great.

Of course, the best thing to make the stadium look good would be to win some games and pack Dix Stadium!!!

This may so 'out of the box' that it will seem crazy, but the Jumbotron folks would need to demonstrate their product in a conference like the MAC and a program like Kent.

I believe the market for this Jumbotron is for stadiums like in the MAC (and SBC and C-USA, etc.) and maybe some I-AA programs.

MAC ADs are the targetted midwest audience I'd guess.

After all, is there a Big Ten school without a Jumbotron????
I believe this was their newest HD model and KSU was the first school to get one, hence the deal they gave us to upgrade at no cost so they could showcase it. It is a beauty. Now all we need is something to put on it.

A stocker broker once told me:

"There are no free lunches on Wall Street"

Guess there is a free upgrade in Kent.

The Jumbotron is beautiful and the price is right.

Is the replay area roughly 30' wide?
36' x 20'
According to the KSU Football website, Phase I renovations were $2MM and Phase II came in a $4MM as the Kent poster above noted.
If the renovations only cost $6mm overall, Kent got a fantastic deal. I was very impressed with the updates -- they truly redefine the gameday experience. Very creative (and cost effective) architectural enhancements that make the project seem much more extensive than it really was.
I read somewhere that the full cost of Renovations was a lot closer to $12 M.
Thank you, jupitertoo. I agree that it has really transformed what has always been a gray, cold, soulless environment into a very nice place to watch a college football game. It's remarkable, really, what some relatively inexpensive design elements can do to change the feel of a place. That and a killer giant HD screen.

Then you guys should actually have one there sometime.
I guess that rules out BG as an opponent.

BG is widely regarded as the best college football team in the Wood/Seneca/Ottawa tri-county region!

I notice you intentionally out left out Hancock Co., which would include the Findlay Oilers.
They didn't renovate the selling of beer in the stadium, did they?

I try to avoid controversy.

No sir!

04-cheers
It has been my understanding that Jumbotrons are free or a nominal cost to the school and the company keeps all the advertising revenue

I'm jealous, we need a new jumbotron/video board. The one we have now is insufficient. We installed it back in 2001 and it is far too small now. Our video display is something like 11' x 15'. We need a big one like KSU and CMU. We also need a new sound system.
