The Cards remained 29th in the coaches poll.

MAC coaches need to vote for their own.

05-mafia

WMU should at least have some votes this week at 5-1.

Jerks! Ball State is the real deal; a legitimate Top 20 team. I suspect media biased collusion to keep the Cards out of a BCS bowl opportunity.
Ball State is definitely a Top 25 team...keep it going, Cards.
I know it isn't fair that Ball State isn't a top 25 team, but it could be a good thing. It forces the players to go out EACH and EVERY week to prove that they are. Look at KSU last year in basketball, they beat St. Mary's in BracketBuster and earn a top 25 ranking. The very next game we lose to BGSU (BTW, BGSU fans, congrats on beating us that game). That is why I like it when the media says "(insert team name" isn't deserving of a BCS game. If the media said they were deserving, naturally you let up a little bit and maybe don't give your best effort.

And congratulations Ball St. on being ranked in at least one poll!!
I ran the Sagarins and the MAC is at least as strong, if not stronger than CUSA/WAC.

There is no reason why BSU shouldn't be at least 20 in both major polls. They've been killing everyone. How the hell does TCU jump ahead of Ball State in the coaches?

WMU should have votes too.

05-nono
Ball State has their "TRAP" game next Saturday. Western Kentucky lost by only two scores at ranked Virginia Tech this past week. The Hilltoppers now host a major college ranked opponent for the first time. Cardinals need to start fast and not let WKU into the game. Wonder if a record number of BSU fans will be making the road trip?
I'm worried about WKU too because Ball State is going up against an unfamiliar program on the road.

I agree it is a trap game but VT was up 27-3 at one point so the score isn't quite as close the game might have seemed.
A MAC team used to have to get to 8-0, 9-0 or 10-0 before they hit the polls. If they did at all.

This isn't too bad.

Factor in BSU's weak schedule and you gotta notch a few more wins.

Jerks? Why is that? Ball State might be the real deal, but no one will ever know. Their schedule is very, very poor. Beating Navy and Indiana isn't nearly enough to get people's attention.
Find fault all you want. Currently they are 6-0 and beating teams by a margin of 23 points per game. Also shutout a team at their house for the first time in 30 years.

Pretty funny you criticize though. NIU beat possibly the worst FCS team in the history of mankind, beat Eastern and has a 2-3 record based on a SOS of 116 compared to BSU's 109.

Not really so. Western Kentucky played at Ball State last year. Cards won 35-12.

Who's criticizing? I'm being realisitc. Facts are facts. A little defensive are we?

You guys are a good team this year. But for people on this board to say that BSU is definitely a top 25 team and dismissing voters as ignorant if they didn't vote as such is foolish.

No reason to be defensive but calling the schedule very, very poor is just that, criticism. Since you are not criticizing, according to Mr. Sagarin, NIU's schedule is very, very, very bad? If the Huskies were 5-0 at this point, with wins over an Minny and UT, I am not confident you would agree with that statement.

At the beginning of the season, the schedule was ok. Not great but not bad either. Indiana was a bowl team with those same expectations this year. Navy is always a bowl team but has lost to a normally ACC doormat Duke. I don't think anyone would have reasonably expected that to happen.

I guess I just found it ironic that you called the Cards schedule poor when NIU's was worse.
I've said numerous times that BSU's problem will be the weak schedule. Their toughest games will be in MAC play, which says something about the strength of the conference this year, but says even more about the schedule. Had they at least had an average BCS team on their schedule they would get more credit. It's akin to trying to argue that one is a mathematical genius because they got 100% on a test featuring basic addition only. It doesn't mean you aren't a genius, but you have to understand why someone would still be skeptical.

If BSU runs the table, they'll be ranked much higher, but a BCS bid is out of the question because their schedule is too weak. (And because their are multiple non-BCS schools that could go undefeated with much more difficult schedules)

Who has Texas Tech played to be ranked in the Top Ten? They've beat two I-AA teams this year if I am not mistaken.

Navy beat a good team, was it last weekend or the week before? Ball State has a very good offense. Their defense might not be great, but it is about as good as it gets in the MAC, and with the offense they have they will win most games they play. They will get to prove how good they are win they play in their bowl game after going 12-1 or 13-0. They are definitely Top 25 material. Maybe not BCS material, but Top 25 material.

I don't know those Cardinals look awfully good right now.....

There is no proof that they are not as BCS worthy as Boise State, Utah or BYU the way they've killed teams all year.

Ball State is not like Hawaii was last year winning games by 1 point on an SOS ranked165.
Not to try to knock BSU, but they are not as good as BYU. They're the best non-BCS team since the BCS was created IMO. Utah isn't far behind either. Not to take anything away from BSU but they have caught a tough year to break into the BCS.
Congrats to BSU on being ranked! I know this is getting way ahead but what does it take for the Big East and ACC to lose their BCS bowl bid in any given year? Is it even possible to have two non-BCS schools get a BCS bowl shot?
