With the Eagles slow start this season, questions have arisen regarding the long-term future of head coach Jeff Genyk:

Seems to me like the AD is really stretching to find positives about EMU football.
The real question is how long until the Hurons leave the MAC?

Quote:With the rollover, Genyk is actually now in the first year of a three-year contract that runs through the 2010 season, which would give him seven years at the helm of the program if he coaches to the end of his current deal.

So even if he makes it through the 2008 season, EMU would have to eat two years of his contract if they let him go. Doe they have a couple hundred thousand dollars laying around for that sort of thing?

Spoken like someone who takes the Internet too seriously.

OK, guys. That discussion is done.

Let's stick with the topic here.

For the record, the topic IS NOT whether (or when) EMU leaves the MAC.

Carry on.
BGSU, just wait until Kit Cat gets a hold of this thread.

Well, I'm an optimist at heart. 03-cloud9

I hear that he has insider info that Notre Dame wants to replace EMU just so they can bask in the light that is "an association with Ohio University"
Nert, please keep that type of insider information in PMs.

Which is the true FLAGSHIP of Ohio Higher Education (can't forget that)
Sad story at EMU. I saw the Toledo game, and there is not much to point to that would make anyone optimistic about the future. It looksl ike they'll probably keep Genyk for one more year just because of the contract, but it would be hard to jsutify anything more than that.

On the bright side, they do have one of the nicer stadiums in the MAC. They just need a good team so people will want to see them.

What???? The one that is falling apart, and only had concession stand open???
The Hurons basketball arena is top notch. Would be neat to have more than 200 people show up for men's bball games.

Why would they need more than one concession stand open? 05-duck

I know you love to pick on EMU Athletics a ton, but lets be realistic. 200? The student section alone is usually over 200.....
200 in your student section? Are you bragging?

Well, I wish I could say we have 200 students show up for our b-ball games. 03-banghead

I believe I said over 200.
