Here's another institution disproving the Dave Mullins fallacy that mid-major football is dying. I'm at work so I don't have time to pull anything from the link above to quote, but UNC-C's Chancellor seems to be enthused and convinced that bringing football to his campus is going to fuel academic and athletic growth there, as well as increase community, alumni, and student engagement. Imagine that.
I don't know what role Mullins, when he took over, had in pushing football over the ledge. We can expect he had some sort of large role, as, after all, HE IS THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR!

However, the quotes that Division I-AA football was dying came from Paul Stanton.
Thanks for the correction Pitt. No matter who said it, that quote has been disproven over and over since ETSU dropped their program. I-AA football is probably the most visible and relevant that it has ever been. The list of schools wanting to get in on it is growing every year, and ETSU is sitting all by itself as the one that got out.
I've been watching for three years and talking to a member of the group for the past year. It was a matter of time that this got done. They aren't interested in staying in IAA but it's going to take time to get the facilities and funding in order, but at least they are moving. There's been quite a bit of talk among the NC schools (see App message board) and there's still the Board to deal with, but it sounds like the politics are in order for the final approval. The president has not done this of his own fruition, he's not really full force but evidenlty understands how the ball really bounces when it comes to the money people...

Well that just puts yet another program on the field. What is it now? FAU, FIU, South Florida, Coastal Carolina, Ga. State, South Alabama and Campbell, just to name a few. TSU is leading the OVC by the way with Antonio Heffner at quarterback. They have a small enrollment and yet still play football, but hey, UT volleyball is coming to Brooks!
