I'm optimistic.
I saw improvement across the board. If you didn't, maybe you're not looking for it.
I hate losing. And I'm a critical sob. I'm [usually] a glass half empty person.
After the first two games, I didn't think we could right this ship on defense.
Yesterday, I saw a 'D' effort that held us in the game for 2-1/2 qtrs. against a mid-level $ec team.
Depth and experience cost us in the end.
We had four offensive drives that could have ended in TD's.
imo, Joe just tried to do too much himself. He's had much responsibility placed upon his shoulders,
and the weight of it appears to show at times.
He forced a few passes, and his personal foul appears to have been the result of frustration.
Webb knows he's our playmaker. He'll learn to trust his receivers and line more as the season progresses. He's exciting to watch.
If we can repeat our defensive effort [and our offense returns] we'll get 4 or 5 wins this season.
The next logical step will be for the team [as a whole] to learn HOW to win.
That'll be this Saturday v. Alabama State.
I'll be there +3

my $0.02
that and $1.07 will get you a cup of coffee at the big M supper club in Trussville.

Against an old school I-formation team, yes, we can play with them for a few quarters. It's when we play against the spread that worries me. To me, i feel like we are running a defense for the 90's, i don't know why, just our blitz packages, zones, and positioning.

As for Joe, well, your right he is trying to do too much. It seems the later the game goes, the more his passes begin to sail. i think it's because he's getting a little tired. I liked the idea of running the direct snaps to slaughter, but I'd like to see another qb coming in and doing that with joe lined up at wr.

other than that, our offense is solid.
I saw some improvement on defense
JOE need to play wr next year if he want to make money playing football
the ol was very good againt a very good front seven
four win will be nice
I agee with you oldblazer on Webb. He's extremely talented, but is asked to do too much which leads to his mistakes and wearing down.

Is Isabelle redshirting? I'd like to see him come in for a few plays to give Joe a break. I do like snapping the ball to Slaughter a few times a game but you can't do that too much because the D knows it's a automatic run play.
YEs there wAs improvement ......I will be there SAT +3
Isabelle is red shirting barring season ending injury to Webb. If he needs a breather Slaughter, Mitchell, & Blivens will share duties at qb.

Good. There's no point in him wasting a year of eligibility for mop-up duty. He will be ready to take over in 2010 with as a RS Soph with a slew of Senior receivers.
