As a Knoxvillian, I can report that UT is not a happy camp. They are looking to take it out on someone this Saturday.

They have a powerful offensive line, two very good running backs, some fast wide receivers who have yet to come into their own, and one of the best sophomore tight ends in the country. Their secondary is extemely talented, with a very solid defensive line - and an excellent middle linebacker. Punting is a weakness, and kicking was undependable at UCLA. Outside linebackers are questionable. Their QB is shaky, but has talent and a strong arm, and could be due to wake up.

Here is my game prediction:

1st Quarter: UT comes out running the ball and shutting down Joe Webb's running lanes. UAB's defense, sick of hearing how bad they are, comes out with an inspired first quarter. UT scores on a long sustained drive, punts on their second drive, and kicks a field goal on the 3rd. UAB picks up a few first downs each drive,, running the spread - but does not score. UT 10 - UAB 0

2nd Quarter. UT begins to open up and throw the ball, especially to the tight ends. They move down the field again and score a second touchdown to TE Brandon Warren. UAB answers with a drive of their own and Jeffery Anderson beats one UT's inexperienced outside linebackers for a 28 yd TD pass. UT answers with a 60 yd TD pass to WR Gerald Jones. One of our walk-on special teams players blocks a punt at the end of the half, leading to a Swayze Waters FG.

Half time: UT 24 - UAB 10

3rd Quarter: UT begins to pour it on as their OL wears down our defense. A long run by RB Motarrio Hardesty nets them the first touchdown of the half. Blazers answer with a drive that stalls at midfield. UT drives for another field goal, and then Frantrell Forrest takes the kickofff back for another UAB score. UT answers immediately with a sustained drive ended by TD run for RB Arian Foster. UT 41 - UAB 17

4th Quarter: UT puts in the young guys. They score twice and we score once (a Justin Brooks 30 yd run, where he runs over three defenders).

Final score: UT 56 - UAB 24. I hope it's much closer than that, but I'm a realist.

Joe Webb throws the ball well, but can't find room to run against a defense keyed on stopping him. Johns and Brooks have their best days yet running the ball, and get 15 carries each. Frantrell has another good day, but our tight ends are the surprise of the game - catching 9 balls between them. Chase Daniel gets his first interception and we get two sacks - one by Happe and one by Barnes, who's been playing pretty well. Joe Henderson wakes up and has 12 tackles, and Lamanski Ware makes a big play that shows us a glimpse of what the future holds. The secondary struggles again, but turns it around after this game.

In two weeks we lead South Carolina going into the fourth quarter...

What's your prediction?
It should be Tenn 56- UAB 17. But, with Chavis at DC I will go Tenn 42 - UAB 34.

I will at least get to hear the UT band play the UAB Fight Song,
take a few pics and be back home in time for evening tea.

I'm bringing sun screen. the last time we played UT at 11:30am, I got roasted. Four l;ayers of skin came off my big nose.
I predict that, given the times of the Little Smaugs' soccer games, I won't see a friggin' down of the game live.

UT -4.

<~~~~~~~~~~~~Shameless homer.
UT 35, UAB 17.
if someone can tell me how many offensive possessions ut will have,
I'll venture a guess.

I'm guessing the algebraic version of your answer is 7x, where x=the number of UT offensive possessions.

quite possibly.
and there might be a (+3) thrown in somewhere (ut could screw up), for I AM a 'homer'.

If the defense continues to play like it has, I'd have to agree. :(

I hope you are wrong and fear you are correct. 03-weeping

UAB will have to play better on offense than it has and play lights out on defense. It is possible, not probable.

Time to start sacrificing chickens.
35-27 UAB

I hate predicting losses.
Tennessee 56
UAB 28
In order to try and keep a bit of optimism for the program in the face of an inevitable lose I propose that we only predict the number of points UAB will score. Just thinking about this defense trying to stop a mad SEC team is an exercise in futility. So let's accentuate the positive and think about how good our offense can play against one of the big boys.

My prediction: UAB 31
