Prep All-Stars is holding one of it's fall camps this weekend at Bartow and I was told that some local guys (Bledsoe, etc) would be there as well as Leflore's team, including Cousins. Does anyone know anything about this event?

Is it open to the public?
Is there a cost to be a spectator?
If it's not open, does anyone know someone that could get me in the door?

See the attached PDF.

I would think Shelby could answer this one.

I found my answer. I contacted the guy that coordinates the camps. It IS open to the public. It is in the rec center, so I'm assuming that you have to pay the fee to get in if you aren't a student. Registration starts at 8:30 and the games will start at 10am.

I am going to TRY to go if my schedule permits. If there is some talent there, I'm gonna do some scouting, take pictures and try to cut up some video. I'll let you guys know if I go. If anyone wants to tag along, PM me.
Just so you know, you may not be able to get in if you don't have someone from UAB who is a member with you. That's how it is for normal use of the Rec Center. I'm not sure about events like this though. I would go with you, but I'll be in Knoxville Saturday.

Brooks H

Interesting. The guy I spoke with said it's open to the public and that I should have no problem getting in. I may call the Rec Center to make sure.
Are there any games Sunday or is it a Saturday only event? I'll be in Knoxville Saturday, but if there's games Sunday I'd be interested in seeing Cousins/Bledsoe play.
How long will they be going on Saturday?

Brooks H

I'm checking on both of those questions. I'll get back with the answers.

Bump...I am about to head over there. There is NO admission. Eric Bledsoe is going to be there as well as Brandon Peterson. I could not get a confirmation that LeFlore will be there, but should be interesting either way. Games will start around 10 or 10:30. They weren't sure how long the games will be going due to the fact that they didn't have a final count yet. I will have my laptop with me and if I can pickup wireless from somewhere I will try to post updates.

If anyone decides they want to run up there, look for me. I will have on a blue tshirt and. navy adidas pants
With the current gas situation it may be reduced to having only local players.
Was Davis there?

Brooks H

Since it was a "pay-to-play" type of camp, the talent WAS limited but believe this....the guys who stood out really stood out. Davis was not there. The was not a single UAB staff member there...trust me, I looked into it. I did meet an assistant from B'ham-Southern that was really nice. Young guy. Helped point out a couple guys to him. In terms of the not-so-obvious, there was a kid named Ronnie Mack that stood out. Really good shooter. I'll be writing him up in the next few days. There was also a LITTLE LITTLE LITTLE kid (I mean, like 5'6" or 5'7") that was a baller named Tyler Mosley. He reminded me of a prototypical UAB guard, haha. Little spark-plug, tons of energy, took it to bigger stronger kids on D. He is a junior at Talledega HS.

Eric Bledsoe was sooooo good. I honestly think he is a top 50 player in his class. He is just SO good at setting guys up. He is the perfect definition of a true PG. He is strong, athletic and rebounds too well to only be 6'. He has such good body control while dribbling and in the air. I can't believe that someone has not tried to nail this kid down to a verbal by now.

Brandon Peterson was ok. You could tell he didn't want to be there. He kept shooting 15-20 footers and usually missed badly. Does not have great form on his shot from what I could tell. If you got this kid the right attitude and worked on his fundamentals, he could be a beast.

The last kid that stood out was a kid named Christopher Key from Decatur, AL. He's a 6'6" SF. Needs to work on his skill level (dribbling, jumpshot and footwork) but the kid is a freakin athlete...he jumps like a pogo stick. One second he's on the ground, the next his elbow is up at the rim....he gets off the ground quick...very good at tipping rebounds to himself.

hoover...it was only yesterday, BTW.
Wasn't there a BB recruit on campus yesterday?
yeah a 3 star SG named Adrain Coleman.
