=>The commitments of Orlando Williams and Allen Roberts, the top 2 ranked 2 guards in Ohio, were just an appetizer.
The main course came from the commitments this weekend of Drew Kelly, the #5 player overall in Tennessee and #2 PF and JUCO All-American Mark Anderson.
Kelly is the side potatoes. Kelly committed Saturday night. As a junior last season, Kelly said he averaged an unusual triple double: 22 points, 15.2 rebounds, and an unheard of 11.5 blocks per game!
Kelly's list of suitors included Kentucky, Belmont, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Iowa, Middle Tennessee, Minnesota, Morehead State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisville, Memphis, George Mason, Georgia, Marshall, Furman, Murray State, Lipscomb, South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Mississippi.
Anderson is the thick porterhouse steak! The crown jewel signature piece came Sunday when Mark Anderson of Sinclair C.C. in Dayton committed.
As a freshman at National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Sinclair Community College in Dayton, he led the nation in scoring with an average if 25.8 points per game. He also was Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) leader in rebounding pulling down 9.3 rebounds per game. He averaged 2.5 steals and 3 blocks per game. Anderson shot 56% from the field, over 48% from behind the arc (top 10 in the nation), and 70% from the free throw line. Anderson reached double figures in all but one game.
These numbers not only earned Anderson the OCCAC player of the year award (and first team All-OCCAC), but also got him named NJCAA second team Division II All-American as a freshman. He may be national player of the year this season.
The buzz is this is the best recruiting class for Miami this decade.
