Could be our own depending on tomorrows outcome, and or the first 1/2 of the season.

Definitely names inserted into thread are Dave Mustache and Greg Robinson, you guys need to start representing for the conference, pathetic for your fans and team to keep putting up with that. We only needed 1 year of that crap to get upset, Cuse and Pitt have had too many years in a row of it.

Completely horrible display of preparation today. He is a cooked turkey
Two things for sure

The Big East is down this year

The MAC is up
You know Texas, our fans are "man" enough to say our conference is down this year as well. Some arrogant fans uh hum Big Ten/ACC will just keep on saying their conferences are all that and a box of chocolates every year. When in reality they have pansy schedules and teams until they are shown the door in their bowl games. We as a conference are willing to come into this year openly saying we are down and rebuilding this year, and only hoping for a few feel good stories for the year. Says alot for our fan bases!
BTW, we ready to announce East Carolina as the 9th team!
Jury is still out on rest of the conference. So far, Cuse looks like the same old same old. Pitt looks pretty bad too. UCONN we don't know yet but I have much more faith in Edsall than the other coach. Cincy will be solid. WVU will be solid. USF will be solid. UL I don't have a clue. RU is kind of unknown too.

It is hard to say if the whole conference is down. However, the same suck teams from last year (Pitt and Cuse) seem to be the same.
You didn't need to start a thread to tell me what I've been saying all along. GRob and Wanny are not good head coaches. Statement of fact.

Wanny's ability has been well documented in the NFL. Why Pitt thought the college level would make him a great coach is beyond me.

GRob was merely elevated to his level of incompetence. He was a good assistant and should have stayed such.
With the guy who hired Wanny gone (Jeff Long, now at Arkansas), I'd say his days are numbered. The new AD will be wanting to bring in his own guy.

With all due respect, we thought Pitt was going to have a "special" season this year with what they had coming back, and you saw what happened there. So to say you guys, UC, and USF are ready to take the next step is reaching still until you win against some legit OOC teams. USF folded last year, and you guys and UC are marginal on the national scene. I think what Texas and I are saying as part of the big six BCS conferences only WVU stands out as a team to truly compete.

See Carroll, Pete. At the time the thought was mediocre NFL coaches with young, energetic personalities were tailor made for college football. It appears Pete Carroll was the exception, not the rule.

Whose "we"? While many people here thought Pitt would have a break out season, Bitcrucher and I have said repeatedly that Pitt gonna suck and they are overrated due to Wanny. It is too bad we are right.

As for UCONN, last year UCONN did overachieve due to youth of the team and a brand new QB. Most UCONN fans have pointed to this year as the break out year since Edsall has all the pieces except for our unknown WR corp. Cincy is a solid team. USF and RU are unknown but they both do have veteran QB coming back. We will see in the coming weeks.

Isn't Pitt's new A.D. the same guy that hired Callahan at Nebraska and then gave him that big raise, even though he was a terrible coach? Said another way, even though Wanny is really a bad coach, do you really think that Pitt's new AD is competent enough to fire him?

as a husker fan, yes he did and I am glad both are gone. callahan and wanny are awful coaches and pedey is an awful ad.
I don't see how the BE is necessarily down. I've been silent on Pitt, taking a wait and see, but they are still probably a 7-5/8-4 team. Cuse is a lost cause, most likely, but there'll be a coaching change there after the season.

UL? Totally unknown, but it's not like w/in 10 years ago they had all that much more national name recognition than UC or Uconn do now. Uconn can go a very solid 9-3 ... and UC can have a standout season.

RU is a bit of a mystery at this point, but I think they'll be very solid, if not standout themselves.

WVU is still very good, and USF should be able to rise up yet again.

All in all, some teams go up, some go down, some continue to muddle along, but this season really could be as exciting as the '06 season.
Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Syracuse will have new coaches next year.

what a crock, pitt loses and all of a sudden people are panicking. everyone on here has been skeptical about wannestadt's coaching and ability to win against inferior opponents so this is not a huge surprise. if we're getting all bent out of shape for the pitt loss imagine what the acc is going through right now.

Thank you!!! F*cking thank you for posting this. G*d d*mn people, Pitt sucks the giant one! Accept it, and hope it doesn't beat you.

Or at the very least, enjoy Clemson getting its ass kicked on National TV, and the ACC burial taking place because of it.

to add to that, every bcs conference other than the pac 10 had a wtf loss today, texas am, miss st, michigan, pitt etc. hardly time to panic.
That Wanny sure can recruit.03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao For those who believe in that, he may recruit but the Bears, Dolphins, and now Pitt prove that he cannot coach.04-chairshot 04-jawdrop 01-lauramac2 03-nutkick 05-stirthepot 03-puke 03-banghead 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao
I pity poor Cuse. 03-melodramatic That about all I have to say about Robinson. 03-weeping 03-nutkick 03-drunk 03-banghead 04-cheers
Syracuse needs to get Turner Gill locked before someone else does. I have no idea what their AD was thinking in not firing Robinson last year. I would have loved to hear the reasoning. What evidence has there been in the last three years that Robinson is able to win at Syracuse?

He definetely was an aweful AD at NU. However, he was a pretty good one at Pitt in the first go around. He did many things to improve Pitt while he was there. He definetely has an abrasive personality - at least the first time he was at Pitt. I hope what happened at NU humbled him a bit. We'll find out soon anyway. He certainly was trying his best to get folks excited about this coming year and then Pitt laid the egg.

Just to note that during Peterson's first go around, he was going to fire Walt Harris in 2001 and actually had I think Ron Zook(?) lined up to replace Walt after Pitt went 1-5 to start the season but Walt saved his job going 6-0 the rest of the year with a win over VT and NCState in the Champs Bowl.

It will be tough to fire Wanny because DW has Nordenburg's (Pitt Chancellor) backing but all bets are off depending on the season. As I said in another thread, Pitt lots millions of dollars today with this loss. This staff - I should say just DW and Matt Cavanaugh - are the most overpaid coaches in the country.
