Full Version: I just don't know what is going on here at the Press

Earlier this week, Joe Avento, who ACTUALLY COVERS ETSU, wrote Summers-Taylor Stadium was completed.

But not according to Kelly Hodge-

This is the second time this major gaffe has been printed in the Press. I still can't figure out how a writer could look at the place, not see the lights or the scoreboard, and then print it is finished, but I digress.

A guess is that the ETSU flacks are lying to the reporters. They are casually saying "this is completed" and the Barbers and the Aventos don't know any better (which is pretty hard NOT to know any better. You literally have to turn the other way to NOT see the stadium isn't complete).

Hodge does.

And Mullins does stand up to why this stadium is now TWO YEARS behind schedule, but the fact is it is just another flashing red light saying "I AM AN INCOMPETENT."

He might as well be a member of the North Korean government explaining why the Ryugyong Hotel still isn't finished.

The stadium, even with American With Disabilities Acts, with building contractor woes, with everything else, simply should not take two years to build under ANY circumstances except, well, they couldn't raise the money to build it and nobody REALLY wants it.
I would agree incompetent. I never hear about these kind of problems at UT or VT and they have construction going on right and left. It's like the USA Olympic softball game last spring. Milligan got it right, while ETSU made excuses.
FREAKING APP STATE WILL BE SITTING IN THEIR NEW STADIUM EXPANSION BEFORE ETSU GETS THE LIGHTS TURNED ON!!!!!!!! yes, i meant the all caps... geezzzz
And today, on the front page of the paper, the same reporter who said the stadium was completed now writes about how the press box isn't ready-

I love Mullins' spin on this. "Oh, it's just the press box that isn't ready!"

And the fans will have to keep the score in their head, and the time will be kept on the field (though that isn't uncommon in soccer, in fact nobody really knows when the halves end), and if the storm clouds come overhead nobody is going to be able to see this, and . . .

Here is something I would love to know. Give me the attendance of the Elizabethton-Science Hill football game tonight against the attendance for this "grand" event.

Even when ETSU is going to open up the season, they do it in the shadow of high school football.

AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE $5 a ticket for this?

HO! HO! HO!
