Downtown has probably been a nightmare for the police and security. Not only do you have thousands of visiting fans wandering around all over Beale Street and surrounding areas, but President Bush is also in town staying at the Peabody, which about two blocks away from FedexForum
Last night, as I left the game around 11pm, there were a lot of police at Autozone Park, the minor league baseball stadium and across the street from the Peabody. I wondered if it was President Bush related, like a security headquarters. Turns out there was a shooting.
At first, people thought someone was shooting in the direction of the president, but in a case of world's dumbest crooks, it turns out that some criminal who didn't know the President was in town and across the street was breaking into cars (See I told you guys) and when police caught him there was shooting and shots fired. :gun: :gun: They got the guys. President is safe.
It is a good thing no games are beign played this morning as all the streets are blocked off with the President getting ready to leave.
