This is a definite blow to my wife and me. The food was always top-notch; we'll miss the OT burgers, cajun fries, mariner's dip, and fried pickles for sure. We have a lot of good memories from that place. The hugs and kisses from Wayne made us feel like extended family... meeting Slinkie, who knows how many times, for fried pickles... what a loss.
I too will miss O.T.'s, it was a place where I knew I could run into Blazer fans on my visits back to B'ham.

Now, onward and upward. Let's find a place to make our own. I nominate Club South. It's near campus and they have all ready extended an invitation (per other thread). Of course, I will be contacting GreenHouse to see what their ideas are on this subject.

I don't know what O.T.'s is like having never been there, but Club South probably needs a little polishing... Granted I've only visited between the hours of 11 PM and 2 AM.
OT's was a place where you could always count on running into a fellow Blazer fan and always having good food. The Greenhouse Gang was a fixture there before or after games. Blazer stuff took a prominent place in the front right corner of the place, along with pictures of Wayne with different folks, fishing trips, and New Orleans jazz posters.

The restaurant business is tough and places close all the time, but places like OT's are hard to find and tough to replicate.
I'll check with Greenhouse and see what the initial plans are, especially in regards to the "Blazer Wall". OT had quite a collection of photos and such. Hope he finds them a good home.
I'll also need the step-by-step recipe and ingredient list for the mariner's dip and the OT Burger while you're at it. 03-wink

Why don't you just ask for the ribs and sauce recipe while you're at it?:)
Dammit. That sucks.
This really sucks.

OT's was usually my first stop when I came to Birmingham. I'm going to miss the fried pickles, sweet tea, ambiance, and Blazer fans.

Damn.
What?

Lou Died? ...man this sucks.[/align]
This is tragic news for Birmingham. OT had the best fried pickles around.

It's a place where everybody knows your name.......... It was our Cheers!
