Give me the rundown on the offensive line. that will answer alot of question
tff: Agreed.

From what I saw last year, it looks like Temple has plenty of talent at the skill positions, especially on offense. Their line was the weak link. If the big hogs can become an above-average unit, the Owls will put plenty of points on the board.

Mike: As always - well-done!
I'm concerned with reports out of practice noting that some of the freshman O-lineman (particularly Steve Caputo, a 3-star guy who had BCS offers) are pressing for playing time. I had hoped that the staff would've landed on a starting five early on, so that we could get the consistency that has been lacking these past two seasons. We shall see...3 more days until Temple-Army!
tchaump: We've got a true freshman pressing for playing time two, and he's earned a spot on the two-deep. While I like the idea that we're getting kids in who can play early, I agree that consistency is critical, too.

The kids could grow up fast with these OOC games.
You do a good job Papreps and I might even be inclined to give your blog some pub at MAC Report Online or even on my blog at phillyBurbs.com, but then again maybe not...

Boy, you'd think being a clown would be bad enough.
Dave,
Duly noted. I just think that talent trumps inexperience every time at the RB position and the credentials of these four guys are really unsurpassed in this league and even some BCS leagues.

Toledo and NIU both have a better stable of RBs. Sorry, to ruin your fun.

Sorry man, NIU has Anderson, and probably someone else we have never heard off and Toledo has Dajuan Collins, who is a better RB than Parmalee was last year (who now is the #2 RB for Miami) and Morgan Williams 2 time Mr. Football in Ohio. His last two seasons in HS he had more than 5,000 yrds at the Division 1 level in Ohio.

And they all can get in line behind Eugene Jarvis. 04-cheers
On top of DaJuane Collins and Morgan Williams, Toledo has Adonis Thomas (Newark, NJ) who had originally committed to Kansas State before signing with Toledo after KSU came to him the night before signing day and said they would no longer honor his commitment because they had the opportunity to sign someone else. Thomas redshirted last season and is a redshirt frosh for Toledo. Word out of camp is that he looks really good and he has also played some slot receiver for Toledo.

Next running back is Gordon Warner (Miami, FL), who is also getting looks at slot receiver. As a true freshman last season he played pretty well, including scoring three TD's against Northern Illinois.

Next is freshman Jake Walker (Delray Beach, FL), who has some really good moves and has looked very good in camp.

While I am not going to say that Toledo's group of running backs is better than everyone else's in the MAC, including Temple, I am pretty confident that no MAC school has a better group of RB's than Toledo...........maybe there are some equals though?

That my friend is the difference between having one star and a great group of running backs. A group of backs stay fresher in the 4th quarter and allow the coaches to use the running game more often throughout the game, plus are more likely to survive injuries to one or two of them throughout the season.

As long as Jarvis stays healthy and doesn't have to carry the ball 35 times a game he will be one of the best in the country.

He's not alone. Soph. Andre Flowers. Was 3rd on the team in rushing last season as a backup.
Quote:Flowers will see significant action this season behind Eugene Jarvis...possesses great explosiveness, strength and speed.

LOL. Good stuff axeme.
Bottom line is Temple has a Pennsylvania Player of the Year running FOURTH TEAM .... not because he's not good enough but because the three guys ahead of him are better.
Another guy, Jason Harper, last year's starter, had to be switched to another position because he wasn't good enough to crack the four deep lineup and he had over 100 yards rushing at UConn.
I challenge any MAC team to give me an Ohio player of the year playing fourth team running back for an Ohio MAC team or a guy who had over 100 yards in a game against a BCS co-champion sitting cause he's not good enough.
Those are compelling arguments I don't see when I see comments like "Toledo's runners are better" etc., etc.
That's how much things have changed for the better at Temple in one season.
Let's hope for a dry field at Army:

If you ask anyone in Ohio Morgan Williams, right now should be at Ohio State backing up C Wells or at Penn St. as the starter.

Ohio High School football> Penn High School Football.
I believe Pennsylvania hammered Ohio in the last Big 33 game, led by five Temple recruits, including the MVP.
