I thought from reading the list of requirements they were going to choose someone with a medical background.
Of course, they still may, but none of these fellas have a medical background.
But really, I want to know how some of these guys got to the positions they have.
For instance, I was drawn to the application of Hoagland, simply because it stated he was from Akron.
I'm thinking "Akron. Okay. That's a football town. It's between Cleveland and Canton. What better place to get a guy from who will be inclined to bring back football!"
But check this guy's cover letter out-
"Dear Hiring Executive"
You're applying to be the President of a University, and your salutation is "Dear Hiring Executive?"
And then, I'm sorry, I am just cracking up, his opening line of the cover letter is
"This letter expresses an initial interest in the position for which I am offering statements of qualifications and/or list of references."
HOW DID THIS GUY GRADUATE WITH WRITING SKILLS LIKE THIS?
I mean elementary school. HOW DID HE PASS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL???
I'll be honest with you. I want somebody who will come from either a school that has started up football under his tenure or is from a school with a Division I-A program.
Davenport is an interesting guy. He used to be the President of a Community College but has also taught at a couple of football powers (Michigan and Washington) but also at a school that dropped football (Pepperdine).
But while that doesn't say much, what might is that he used to raise money, and a lot of it, for Florida Atlantic, which has recently started a football program.
Stay tuned.
