According to this board 03-melodramatic

1. 90% percent on the MACBBS believe the Yager is a beautiful stadium post renovation. After all Miami has the nicest campus in the Midwest therefore the stadium has to be beautiful.

2. 40% believe that Ohio University still uses an 8' by 8' wooden pressbox. This belief is perpetuated from the rally cry of "1968" and the assumption of 40 consecutive years without a win.

3. 15% believe that Frank Solich actually coaches at Wake Forest University. The current coach of Ohio University is unknown and there is a rumor going around that it must be one of the quarterbacks.

4. The average IQ on this board of non-Ohio fans is 87. A whole 2 points above complete dipstick.

KC: Must you always try so hard to knock Yager Stadium? In your previous post you took the most unimpressive view of Yager with which to make your point. I think Peden is a beautiful little stadium as well, so I won't take up the sword in terms of debating which is better or more "scenic", but the setting for Yager is very nice, and the stadium looks great on the inside. (brick supports for the jumbotron, Field Turf, Cradle of Coach's Plaza, etc.). To me Peden looks better from the outside than the inside with those offset stands not matching up well, but it's a great setting for college football as well no doubt.

The strength and conditioning facilities are adjacent to the Stadium on the hill right above the stadium....and the home side isn't 2 1/2 times the size of the new away stands...it's closer to 1 and 1/2 as the home side is about 64 rows and the away side is 45 rows. You are quite correct in that Miami doesn't yet have an indoor practice field, so it's that part of the "grading" for the stadium, you can downgrade if you like.
A discussion on who has the best sub 30k stadium in the MAC. Awesome.
Well, Gooch, I can certainly agree that debating which stadium is better is a pretty useless pursuit, but in terms of debating the stadiums with regards to size...if you're talking about MAC member owned stadiums there aren't many stadiums in the conference that do exceed 30K in capacity, are there? I think the ol' Rubber Bowl may be 35K....a couple others may top out right at 30K as I recall...
I have been to a stadium in Ann Arbor that holds +100k that I wouldn't rank ahead of half the stadiums in the MAC goocher. putting 90,000 truck drivers into a place doesn't make it special.

and honest to god KC nobody on this board suffers from a lack of knowlege about Frank Solich. We have heard you mention it before a couple of times.
Sold out stadium of 100k or half filled 30k stadium. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
Troll MAC message boards with one liner responses trying to increase my -5 rep or watch a special interview with Ohio State's field hockey coach on the Big Ten Network. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Fans of teams w/ HUGE stadiums think that their stadiums are automatocally better since they hold a lot of people.
Things that suck about Michigan Stadium:
- Very far away from the action
- Not very enthusiastic crowd
- Seats are 4 inches smaller than average
- No concourse
- people constantly in the isles obstructing your view
- people overly impressed with the wave
- full of michigan fans
- have to walk up or down 40 rows to get to your row

It takes a special kind of idiot to ignore these things and promote that giant hole in the ground as a great place to watch a game.
I find the people who have the greatest affinity for Michigan Stadium have either:
a. never been anywhere else
b. see it mostly on TV and like the pictures taken by the blimp from overhead

Is it so unbelievable that someone might think another smaller stadium was a better experience?
Which one is better to go to during a tornado? It's a toss up because we had to take shelter in their due to severe weather at MAC Outdoor track.

Michigan Stadium blows the MAC away when it comes to game-day experience, IMO. There is much more energy, tradition, etc. in Ann Arbor than the rest of the MAC combined.

That having been said, Michigan Stadium as a venue in and of itself is not anything special, although it may be after the expansion is finished.
The energy from the fans at a Michigan game couldn't power a pin wheel unless they are playing ND, Michigan State, or tOSU. It really is nothing more than just alot of people. I guess they have watched many many seasons of 9+ win football, but if you are talking about just going to a game it doesn't distinguish itself from any other place in anything except quantity of people. Its like mass transit in a 3rd world country.

The expansion won't effect the game day experience of anybody who isn't superbly wealthy, a member of the media, or handicapped.

Wow, where even to begin w/ that one. Sweet life.
I've attended games at quite a few MAC stadiums, as well as quite a few games in Michigan Stadium. While Michigan's atmosphere may not compare to an SEC environment, there really isn't any comparison between Michigan and the MAC.

My opinion is obviously in the majority, based on the fact that Michigan nearly outdrew WMU's 2007 yearly attendance total on a single Saturday last fall.
Wow your opinion is in the majority is it. Go Blue. Close the thread any stadium below a 100,00 capacity isn't worth discussion. The Gooches have spoken. No stadium with a capcity below 6 digits is worth discussion.
Well, considering you've based your opinion on nothing other than your jealousy-inspired loathing of all things UofM, I'm not sure you're one to talk.

Why don't you sit on the sidelines until you can post something intelligent for a change, Liam? Thanks.
College football fans, whether it be BCS, Mid major, I-AA, D3, etc, must be shaking their heads at the thought of 8k fans watching Western Michigan/Akron having more "energy" than a sold out stadium of 100k.
Ok, sold out stadium of 70k? 80k? What works for you, Liam?
