It was a bowl game.

The loss to Temple was so bad it counted twice.
PJ Fleck is going to be a college football head coach someday if that is what his ambition is. He definitely has the qualities and the work ethic to make it a reality.

One of my best friends is former college football player at tiny Northwestern of Iowa. I have gotten to know two of his friends and former teammates who are now assistant coaches in the college ranks. One of them is former NIU assistant Bill Bliel, who coached in DeKalb for one season and happened also to be head coach at West Carolina for four seasons before one of his assistants was arrested for drunk driving (a very public and nasty arrest) and the university president fired him. Let me tell you the life of a college assistant coach is no walk in the park. Shockingly low pay (unless you are top assistant at a BCS school), inhumane work hours during the season and for big portions of the offseason too, manic travel during recruiting season, constant uprooting of your family to move to the next opportunity / promotion...

Needless to say I have grown to have tremendous respect for the job PJ Fleck and other assistants do for a living. My hat is definitely off to these guys.
