CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia University's football team has picked up immediate help for the 2008 season.

Chaz Russell, a 6-foot, 195-pound defensive back, has committed to play for the Mountaineers and will be in Morgantown on Sunday.
The three-star cornerback hails from Los Angeles Pierce Community College. He had three summer classes to complete before being eligible to play on the Division I-A level this fall.
The native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., chose WVU over Memphis. He also visited Akron.
Russell will have three years to complete three seasons of eligibility with the Mountaineers.
maybe Curtis Echols or DA Griffin or someone will step up and surprise, but this kid would've helped us...
I wonder if Brandon Washington was the backup plan to Chaz?
Neither of those show him as signed. He is listed as a "solid verbal" on one and a likely decision on the other. Both of which quote West Virginia sources.
I do like how he told their interviewers that he couldn't wait to be a Mountaineer and told our guys, he can't wait to get on the field against ole miss.
