By now you're used to seeing multiple MAC teams places in various spots among ESPN's Bottom 10.

This year is no different, as NIU makes the list at #6, with Akron and Kent on the waiting list. Not seeing Buffalo or EMU on there is a nice surprise, though.
Thank God Toledo's not on the list!
What, no Notre Dame?
Ohio fans can relate to the Bottom 10... 03-hissyfit

I am hopeful that this year the MAC can 'rise again' and all teams stay out of the bottom 10 while shoving some unlucky others into the hell hole.

My candidate list for potential Bottom 10 teams, if MAC teams take care of business - not because they are bottom 10 material, but because the MAC can almost single handedly push these teams into the depths:

Wyoming with 2 MAC matchups
Navy with 3
Army with 4
Indiana with 2
Minnesota with 2

There may be a couple others, I'm not sure. And granted, some of these teams don't play all of their MAC teams right up front, but some do.

A strong showing in these games can get the MAC out of the bottom 10, and also solidify the MAC's standing for all of the potential openings caused in bowl games when the Big11, etc don't have enough teams to fill their slots. I'm hopeful.

Yes. It's an insult to be included on the list. I posted this because the MAC should be insulted to have teams constantly on this list.
It's insulting but at least half the teams belong on the list. Reality hurts.
Belong on a fictitious and arbitrary list? How is that possible. There is no objective criteria for ranking these teams. Its basically a list of the worst records in college football with a few bad jokes sprinkled in. It is absurd to treat this like its anything remotely relevant or an actual barometer of a football program or conference. There is no basis for comparing one team to another, at all. How do you tell which 0-6 teams is the bottom #4 and which is the #2? You can't! It's a joke not a ranking. Its written by one guy who probably doesn't watch many of these teams that he is "ranking," and everyone here acts like its some kind of scientific process or pairwise ranking of some kind.
Ahh, not like the "scientific process" of the top 25...
The Top 25 is based on the subjective viewpoint of a large sample. The bottom 10 is the viewpoint of one writer for ESPN.com who has never revealed any objective criteria what so ever for how and why teams are "ranked," where they are. It is doubtful he knows anything at all about these programs. It reinforces the same tired, thoughtless viewpoint that certain programs are inherantly not worth knowing about. Its based on ignorant perception and superficial glances at the W-L record. After one week of play 0-1 Idaho will be "ranked," and 0-1 Oregon State will not. Why? Because Idaho is Idaho and who cares. Well thats fine if thats your attitude (gooch) but it isn't fine if you are going to try and tell people that Idaho is now one of the 10 worst programs in college football and put their 0-1 record up for mockery.

Its an attempt at being clever and different by a writer. Its frustrating because people who actually care about the programs being trashed give creedence to this type of institutionalized ignorance.
When you are 0-and-whatever, it's hard to argue you don't deserve to be in a bottom ten, no matter how it is conceived.
Its easy to find the 10 worst records in FBS football. You don't need to look very hard to figure it out. But to single certain teams with terrible records out and arbitrarily ridicule them is a cheap shot IMHO and not worth worrying about. A preseason bottom 10 is beyond ridiculous as well.
Liam, are you one of those people that think everyone should get a ribbon? Even 10th place?
No I'm one of those people who think there should be some kind of objective criteria in passing judgement on something.

But thats not to take anything away from all the 10th place ribbons you've earned.
And the Charlie Hustle Award goes to.....Liam!
Hard to believe we are less than two years from the pomposity of NIU fans....

Yeah NIU hasn't been the same since that Poinsetta Bowl beat down they got from TCU. I think all of the getting close and never quite getting to the top hurt that program phsycologicaly which lead to the bottoming out last season. Reminds me alot of what happened to WMU in 2001. Only Novack had the decency to walk away where as Gary Darnell stayed on until we had no program left.

Still saying they are in the "Bottom 10," is completely meaningless and arbitrary. All it means is they had a bad year last year and they are an easy target because they are a non BCS school.
Liam, it's pretty simple bud. If you don't like it, don't read it.

The Bottom 10 isn't intended to be taken particularly seriously. That having been said, the schools that wind up on the Bottom 10 generally deserve any abuse they are given.
I can't wait to bump the Bottom 10 list every week during football season. Liam will make an appearance every time too, like clockwork.
