Anyone have any updates on the early practices to date? Whose looking good etc.

No updates yet. Dont think the pads will go until maybe Monday or Tuesday....alot of film and meetings so far.

I have heard that Nate Beard and Jayson Jones have both quit.

Sanders will in all probability return punts ans kickoffs. Jones had a lot of speed but with all the rb's in camp perhaps he was concerned about pt.

Beard didn't drop and punts to my recollection but he also didn't have much return yardage either. Sanders should add some excitement to the return game, lets hope he hangs on to the ball..

I would expect Gage and Priest to still handle kickoffs with Sanders possibly getting some chances there also. I would think Sanders is the frontrunner for punt returns.

Honestly does anyone know why Jones and Beard quit? I mean do people get scholarships and not actually believe they will have to compete for positions?

I remember Richard Franklin and LJ Robertson two well regarded RBs out of high school. Apparently one of the two thought he didn't have to work hard and the other thought he had the starting job locked up for a lifetime or something like that.

And although there has been a few minor exceptions most of these kids who quit EMU football for whatever reason seem to disappear.

I honestly was hoping that Jones and Beard quiting was a rumor, but I guess not.

Heard Franklin also liked to smoke a little.

Im not commenting yet because I havent heard that or confimed it. Cowboy, I know Robertson is on the SVSU roster, dont know what happened to Franklin, anothe r name to throw out there is Connor the RB who quit twice.
