WR Sam Hurd is primed to have a breakout year for the Cowboys in his 3rd year in the league.

WR Justin McCareins has found a place to start in Tennessee.

FB/TE Jake Nordin was just cut from the Baltimore Ravens.

DT Hollis Thomas actually made weight coming in for the Saints.

More stuff as training camp proceeds...
WR Terry Glenn just got cut from the Cowboys today making Sam Hurd the new #3 WR for Dallas!!!

Dallas said they made the move to cut Glenn so that they could get a better look at their younger guys like Sam Hurd. Hurd has now got his opportunity to shine. As long as he keeps on doing what he's been doing it should be his job come regular season.

Any word on Doug Free and how he might look for the Cowboys this year?

I posted an article earlier about Free saying he was competing for the #3 spot at tackle. He said he has to be versatile enough to play RT as well so he could see more PT.
All the stuff I've read about Doug Free is saying that he's having a summer that's tons better than last year and he will solidify the 2nd string LT spot.
TE Brad Cieslak is doing well in Browns camp so far:

Blurb from ESPN.com's Blog Network on 7/28:

"Phillips said he hasn't made a decision on who will be the team's third receiver. Right now, Sam Hurd might have a slight edge over Miles Austin."

It's all about $$$$$. Who's earning his pay, and who isn't.
Sam Hurd has a role to play on the Dallas Cowboys.
Sam Hurd quotage:
Quote:"You need me to block, I am going to kill somebody," Hurd said. "You need me to catch, I am going to catch. If you need me to score, I am going to get in that end zone.

"If you need me to run down on kickoffs, I am going to do whatever it takes for the Cowboys, not for me, for the team to win."

That's what he did for Garrett Wolfe.

Also heard Cieslak is catching everything in Browns camp.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cleveland has a pass catching tight end in superstar in the making Kellen Winslow. The only way Brad Cieslak makes the Browns is if he demonstrates good blocking ability and penchant for playing very well on special teams.
A lot of talk of splitting Winslow out b/c they want him to stay healthy. They like the match up's at corner. They will use a second tihgt end quite a bit, I'd be surprised if they kept less than three tight ends. Winslow will play zero special teams, and a lot of WR. They will need bodies at that position.
Wolfe's got a minor hamstring injury, but anything that doesn't get him reps right now hurts him.

I wonder how serious it is? And this happens with the first preseason game in less than a week. That's ******* great.

As dark clouds hovered, Smithdecided to end Thursday's practice 30 minutes early. The Bears coach wasn't so much concerned with the weather as he was with the figurative downpour of injuries.

Smith hopes to have a healthy bunch Friday for Family Night at Soldier Field.

"We have more than 10 guys on the injured list," he said. "None have any major injuries. Hopefully we'll get the majority of them back at Soldier Field."

Those out for Thursday's practice included Chris Williams (back), Dusty Dvoracek (calf), Brandon Lloyd (hip flexor), Jason McKie (knee), Garrett Wolfe (hamstring) and Mark Anderson (knee). Rookie cornerback Zackary Bowman was out but said he was just resting.

Williams' status is the one that continues to get the most attention. The rookie first-round pick out of Vanderbilt hasn't practiced since Day 2 of camp because of back spasms.

"Each day he gets a little bit closer," Smith said. "Hopefully, before long, we can talk about the practice that he had."

Also, here's a pretty sweet article on Justin McCareins:

Wolfe's back from his hamstring injury:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-...4821.story

However, Justin McCareins has had a tight hamstring the last couple days and has been taking it easy in Titans camp. He hasn't dropped a ball so far camping in Tennessee and has secured a starting spot on the team.

Hollis Thomas has been bothered by a "Baker's Cyst" which means he has a pocket of pressurized fluid in his knee. That has to be bothersome considering how much Hollis weighs.

Free & Hurd not looking so bad in Cowboys camp.
