I noticed the Press had given front page treatment to the fact ETSU is now holding a soccer camp.

Which is fine, but it made me recall that during Paul Hamilton's tenure he was told he couldn't have a football camp at ETSU.

You just can't know the recent history of ETSU sports and not realize that there is an agenda the administration has had regarding their athletic department.

And it is an agenda that is driven by the non-spectator sports.

Yes, I realize the A-Sun wants their members to have soccer. F

But just once, wouldn't you like to have one of the reporters who cover things like the ETSU soccer camp- which is naturally a story created by the ETSU publicity department- ask the question-

"Why can we have soccer camps now but couldn't have football camps then? Were you actively trying to destroy the football program?"

Well, Pitt. How silly.

Of course soccer camp is a front page story. And you call yourself a journalist.

I also noticed that there is a small band camp going on this week on the intramural field. I think it was the Marion, VA Middle School and it reminded me that our University does not sponsor a marching band any more. No football team. No marching band. But we CAN sponsor a soccer team and a soccer camp! If the situation at State were not so serious with the athletics it would be funny.

OOhhh. Band Camp!

Someone call Kelly Hodge. Sounds like another hot story!!!!

My guess would be kelly Hodge was in the band. I'll atleast give Mike White some credit, he was a pretty decent ball player. Too many of these guys that write sports don't appear that they even played them at the high school level.

Riding the bench at Milligan does not make you a decent ball player!

I never was a big fan of that "you had to play the sport to cover it" idea.

Bill Stern had a wooden leg. He turned out to be a pretty good announcer.

Jim McKay couldn't possibly have played all the sports he covered. I think he was okay.
